Is there something going on the week of Dec 7th? Why is it impossible to find a studio, anywhere, for 2 nights? Im not usually there this time of year, but I would have thought itd be empty(ish).

Just wondering if there is some big hur-rah and Im in the dark.

Other thing - what are the odds of finding something? Is it the same as reg. ressies where you call every day and new stuff opens up or am I beating a dead duck?

Early December is one of the most popular if not the most popular times for DVC members. I'd be very surprised if you found a studio at this late date. I would have been surprised in fact if you had found a 'december studio' in February.

All the Holiday activities are up and running, and it is the least expensive point usage time frame (Adventure Season). It has always been a very, very, very popular time for DVC reservations.

Unfortunately the first and second week of December are extremely popular DVC times. This is my first December with a DVC trip and I was surprised to find that a few days after the 11 month mark, I actually had to waitlist for the night of 12/7. There is actually a fairly long waitlist list for December so far on the December Waitlist Thread.

Thanks for the info. OK that makes more sense. So, OKW had a studio one of the days I needed but not the other. Is it worth calling every day?

Book the day that is available and waitlist for the other day. Cancel before 31 days out if the second day does not come through. Or waitlist for any studio for the days you want. You don't really have anything to lose as long as you cancel in time (assuming you aren't missing a banking window).

While it is popular, I don't think it's impossible to book rooms during December. I had booked TWO studios for 5-nights at BWV. I made the reservation in June, I think. My dates were Dec. 14-19 so maybe that is a less popular week? I have since canceled them as we couldn't find cheap plane tickets for December...but found some for October. Unfortunately, October is booked up and we have to pay for half our reservation with cash at OKW cause no point ressies available. Oh well...we will still be at WDW!! :cool1:

Another trend in general for DVC is studio and 2 BR rooms go faster than 1BR rooms. DVC trends do go a bit different than the regular resorts. It has to due to point cost and what is going on.

Chuck hit the nail on the head - and it should also be noted that if you do want to stay in Adventure Season for a December WDW DVC trip, you'd be best booking your home resort at the 11-month window (then possibly seeing what's available at the 7-month window). Advance booking will get you in no problem.

The 11th month window is for your home resort, right? And the 7 month is for all others?

Im renting points this trip (the owner offered to wait list me), again, b/c I seem to be too dopey to figure out all the logistics involved with owning DVC. There are a lot of rules and Im not sure I understand everything.

Is there a buying your 1st DVC for dummies thread? I so need that. Ive read a ton of stuff, but I feel like I barely know/understand the tip of the ice burg.

If you are renting points I wouldn't book that one night and hope. The owner you rent from might have restrictions that don't allow cancellation, and the second night may not come through (or the owner may no longer have points available when it does). Book cash for this trip.

Agreed. I didn't realize you were renting. Besides cash your option might be to wait until a month before your dates and check the rent/trade board to see if someone has had a last minute change of plans and wants to rent out an already made reservation.

Yes you are correct.

Well there are lot's of threads by many of us when we were thinking about purchasing. But I think that the best approach is to either use this thread or start another and just start asking questions. We will be glad to answer your questions and if you don't understand an answer, tell us and we can rephrase the answer. :thumbsup2

I went last year and was unable to book a studio at 4 months. We end up using our points at CBC instead. It was more then a studio but less then a 1BR. I don't know how many points you rented or what Month your membership is for(can't book and travel in the last four months of ownership month) but that is an option if you meet the above requirments
