:wave2: Hi All....It's been a little while. I'll get right to the point & I'm really hoping someone can help.

Ok, I live in Hawaii & am interested in the DVC. I went on their website & requested the video to tell me more, but after I filled out my address, it came back saying that Hawaii is not included in DVC. Obviously, this should not be a reason that I shouldn't be able to rcv. the video, right? Just cuz' I live in Hawaii shouldn't be a reason that I couldn't belong to the DVC, right? Can someone help me out here? I will travel anywhere & am still very interested in joining the DVC. Basically as soon as it was detected I live in Hawaii, I was rejected....It doesn't really make sense. Help is much appreciated. Do you know of a website I could go to where I can email this question? Thanks!

They can't send the sales info to states they are not registered to sell. Give them the address of a relative in a state they can send it to if you must. Or wait until you visit WDW.

OH, ok....thanks. I'll give a relatives address then & have them mail it to me. Sounds good. Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

I live in Nebraska and we have the same law, there are 5 states that are like this. You have to buy while in Florida, the only way to buy into DVC, it stinks! I never did get the video.

That really does stink! I had to help my best friend when she joined before I did. I had all the info sent to my house and when I finally decided to buy in my guide said "we already sent the info to you last year, did you lose it?"...................... Whooops

If you have any travel plans to the LA area in the future, you could purchase DVC on a visit to Disneyland.....

Wow, flying from HA to FL would be a killer! I even hate the long flight from MN to HA!

AFAIK, there are no state restrictions on buying into DVC via resale. My advice is to do your research and then look seriously into resale. If buying direct from Disney turns out to be a better deal for you (perhaps due to incentives or financing or avaiability, etc.), then you can look into a trip to the mainland to buy.

Best wishes -

The answer here is to buy resale. We live in Nebraska and bought BWV resale, then did an add-on with Disney while in Orlando on a later trip. I would not recommend the "send it to a friend/relative" route, particularly if you are thinking of financing---they run a credit check. Hate to sound alarmist, but you would be commiting fraud and violating your state laws. DVD is very careful about this.

I was particularly annoyed because I am not a legal resident of Nebraska---as an Active Duty military member I retain my "home" state residence of PA. But DVD wouldn't budge... In the end, I bought resale, saved money, and got a great contract with loaded points.

Good luck.

We live in WA state and had to buy resale as well because DVC wasn't registered to sell here. Our guide contacted us recently to say they were registered now...but only for SSR. It's a shame because I am contemplating an add-on but want either BWV or more OKW.

We live in CA. Bought before they came to CA. Had to buy in FL because they coudln't sell it to us once we were home. Then we got smart for our 2nd contract and bought resale using The TimeShare Store (link above the posts) Everything went smoothly and we saved lots of $$. (didn't get the lithograph but it didn't matter)

Good luck and Aloha......

Couldnt you rent a po box in Fl and then have the post redirected to your home

This is a good idea. If you do an internet search for " RV mail forwarder " there are lots of southern states with these type of companys that you can use them for a month to get your dvc stuff and they automatically resend it to you at home. Its usually use for people who travel in RV's they get their mail at the company and they let the company know to send out the mail to such and such an address at such time.

Good Luck

This is not a good idea. This is fraud...

Would this Post Office Box have a phone number? What area code?

We're not talking about buying a toaster on Ebay here, this is a real estate transaction with a Title. If you misrepresent yourself and the other party (in this case Disney) finds out they could likely void the sale and keep your money---or worse. Disney has a lot to lose if they are found to be colluding in avoidance of state real estate regulations, and might even be fined if just negligent in not establing a purchaser's identity correctly.

Why go down that path when there is a perfectly legal route available by buying through resale?

I guess I misunderstood what was being asked. I thought they were looking for a way to get INFO about DVC , the dvc purple book with video . Sorry .

My apologies if I came across as jumping down your throat... Reading the earlier posts started to remind me of the string where a bunch of folks were trying to figure out how to bump rental rates above $10 a point---which is essentially price fixing.

See you on the Keister Coaster.

I had the initial info sent to my dad's house and he mailed it to me. It was just a video and a brochure and it was mailed to him with his name on the mailing label. I don't think that is in any way fraud or anything to be worried about. If you were actually trying to *buy* and using false addresses then that is a different story, but to just have someone forward the dvd/book to you... not a problem IMO.
