Timeshare co has been very professional with me. Try calling them.They have been very honest about there products.
Also I do not understand what are the benefits to DVC. There is no maid service, you get a room you have to fight for during peak times, and it takes at least 10 years to breakeven.
I may be wrong; I hope you'll explain.

One of the biggest benefits is that you are paying for your vacations for the next 40 years in today's dollars. Compare how much a night at a Disney Hotel cost 20 years ago. Don't you wish you could have locked in at those prices for the past twenty years and the next twenty as well? It's a very good deal when you look at it that way.

10 year breakeven???

I bought 230 points in '92 at $51 per. I had two years worth for my first stay. 12 nights in a GV at OKW. That was somewhere near $900 per night. I nearly broke even on my first stay.

I added 200 points during that first stay. In '94 I stayed 12 nights in a GV again, this time I more than broke even for the original purchase and add on combined.

In '95 I stayed in a GV for dues, or about $100 per night. Every year since, I have stayed 10-12 nights in the GV for a little over $100 per night.

Staying in studios does take longer to break even, but I haven't seen any number run that come close to a ten year breakeven....my first stay would have cost the same as my DVC purchase.

That is another way to think of it....I stayed 12 nights in a Grand Villa at OKW and got a free DVC membership!!!!

tfrank, you can also use points to take the cruise. While this is not necessarily viewed as the best use of points, I can tell you that the money I have saved on the cruise has paid for about 1/3 of my point purchase.

You can also use points to stay at GF, AKL, CR or Poly.

Also once the points are paid off. I am getting to stay in a fully appointed 1BR suite with full kitchen and washer and dryer at a beautiful Disney resort with all the benefits of staying onsite for the annual price of what it would cost me to stay at the All Stars. Nuff said!

If we had bought on our 1st trip 3 years ago it would have paid for its self by our next trip.

We figure with cruises staying at the AKL and such it will still pay for itself in 4 of 5 years.

We should have gotten it from the start.

Next year we are going to use our points for

4 days AKL
4 day Wonder
6 days BWV

We would never be able to afford a vacation like that every year or so without DVC.

There is limited maid service depending upon how long you stay. You can also pay extra to have additional maid service. Most members have found that even when they were worried about this lack of maid service, they end up liking the fact that someone isn't coming into your room every day. The one bedroom and larger has washers/dryers and a dishwasher. You pull up the covers, toss the garbage in the bin on the way to the bus and your done. Not a big deal.

It also isn't that tough to get reservations. You may hit a busy time but usually people end up getting what they want by being on the wait list. It's less stressful than trying to call daily in search of discounts, codes, etc., etc.

The breakeven discussion has already been handled. For most people, it let's them upgrade the level of their accomodations for the same or less cash spent.
