Ok here it goes---I also posted this in the cruise board.

We are currently booked on March 30 Magic and I want to reshop our Alaska cruise in August 2012 and the Med 2013.

The only problem that I see is that our Alaska cruise was paid for using DVC points for adults and cash for child. Could I still get OBC for that reservation or am I out of luck because it's DVC???? I'm a new DVC owner obviously.

I also want to reshop the Med 2013 cruise we booked opening day to see if we can get a 10% and an OBC. We have two cabins on this cruise one is a cash paid cabin and the other cabin is a DVC cabin.

Since I already paid the deposits for the Med I'm mainly hoping to get the 10% off both points and cash and then OBC for both rooms. Does anyone have any insight as to if this will work?

I plan on taking my reservation numbers with me.

Thanks,

Stephanie

For direct cash reservations you should be able to make the changes and get any additional benefits and any price reductions. However, once you've transferred to a given agency and away from DCL (or made the reservation directly with a TA initially) I don't think you can change to another agency that might have a better deal. With DVC, it's more complicated. Any price reductions or OBC doesn't apply unless the DVC price changes and these cannot be transferred to a TA. You could cancel and book for cash but the points involved would be limited and expire the end of the UY.

The issue with this is that you can't do anything while onboard with a DVC point reservation. There is no OBC for DVC points reservations, only the point discount. It's not exactly 10%. The only problem is that you'd have to cancel the existing reservation when you return home and then rebook it to get the discount. ANY point savings will remain as reservation points (only used for WDW resort hotels, concierge collection, etc. You'll also have to pay another $95 fee to change the ressie, most likely not worth your time, IMO

As for the cash ressie, if you booked directly with DCL, they'll be able to help you onboard and rework to see if you'll get any savings with "reshopping" the cruise. If you booked with a TA, you'll have to book another ressie, name your TA, and have them work out the room assignments. The TA will cancel your original ressie and have your original deposit refunded to you, if you wish it. As for the DVC ressie, we above for the same problems.....

I plan on taking my reservation numbers with me.
