DVC Hawaii

I doubt that we would buy there - being based on the east coast does get in the way of visiting Hawaii. Vero, HH and WDW all keep us busy for normal vacations, but will definitely save up points for a special vacation or two!! (Or three...)

We are going to Hawaii for the last two weeks in June. First week in Oahu, second in Maui. We are staying at my brother in laws time share. Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club in Oahu and we are excited to see if any progress is underway on the Hawaii Vacation Club. I don't think I'd buy in or well my husband wouldn't unless its a great deal.

Our Home Resort is SSR and we purchased a few months before they released the info on AKV. I nearly dropped dead because when we were purchasing I said my dream would be BCV or AK if they were a vacation club.

With so many deals I still don't know whether to sell and buy AKL since we really don't like our home resort. We had thought about it for the last 10 years or more and it was the only resort available.

No way!! Plane ride is soooooo long and expensive from NJ. We went for our honeymoon and hope to go back for our 10yr anniversary next year either by using our points or trading points with a lovely fellow disser:) Hawaii twice in 10 years is plenty IMO.

speak for yourself, Peanut, I've been nagging to go back to Hawaii every year since I married you!
When it comes to vacations, My Favorite is MORE, EXTRA, AND THE NEXT ONE!
Love you peanut!

Can you feel the love?

A couple that posts and plays together, stays together....or something like that!

Another east coaster who will not be buying in, but who is VERY excited about the possibility of a 7 month booking into Hawaii!! :)

We live in NC and we will be buying a small contract to use to bank and borrow to do a every three years trip. We had planned to buy Marriott and now instead will buy Hawaii.

We live in IL and that is our plan too!

I would actually consider keeping our AKV points but selling our SSR points to pay for Hawaii points.

This is my exact problem...it costs so much to get there, that the savings on the hotel seems minimal in comparison....just for giggles i went on and priced 4 roundtrip tickets from bostan to Hawaii, and it cost more then my entire upcoming trip in April (including airfare)....I like islands and all, but DVC hawaii sounds like a one and done for my family.

No Chance! Love Hawaii but MF's are going to be insane IMHO, may make VB look cheap!. I will be happy to poach at the 7 month window, though!

Just a shout out to a fellow Birds fan! I have club box season tickets myself, love the pic!

Nope, we won't be buying. Too long on a plane for us and too expensive to get there. DVCs in the continental US will do just fine.

Hummm... doesn't look like they are beating down the door, does it?

It may simply appeal more to your average Hawaii timeshare purchaser than to your average current DVC (frequent WDW visitor) member.

I could see some people who want to buy a timeshare in Hawaii deciding to go with Disney over one of the other brands. I wouldn't be surprised if Hawaii is awfully hard to get into at 7 months not only because of the desirability to those of us who own at other resorts but because many people who buy in Hawaii don't have interest in visiting any of the other DVC properties more than occasionally.

Have they started the construction yet? I would love to see some pics, to see how things are coming along.

I think they will sell well, but primarily to the west coast audience- and this board is primarily east coast.

That being said, as a west coaster we won't buy. We already have a Marriott Kauai membership for our Hawaii fix, and we prefer Kauai and Maui to Oahu. But I still have no doubt that it will do well.
