a compulsive planner and now I don't know what to do! Spring break is quickly approaching and I do not have ressies anywhere. Our AP will expire 2 days into our vacation so the original plan was to stay at the value (still rooms open) and then go do something we have never done (Sea World, Holyland, etc). Then we were planning on going out west this summer and driving because FIL will not fly. Now by boss says that she has to think about whether I can have two weeks or not. She has been thinking since October! I need to plan something!!! So I am leaning toward renewing our AP's and just going to WDW again for the next year. What would you do? I am fearful that if I don't book DVC for this summer soon we will be out of luck (I have checked several dates and they are booked).

If your boss has been thinking since October & still hasn't given you an answer, it doesn't sound like she is happy to let you off for that amount of time. I would try & pin her down this week & if she is still up in the air, give up & go for a week at WDW. That's my 2 cents! :goodvibes

If it won't put your points past the banking window, I would go ahead and make my Summer reservations, then if you don't need all of it, cancel what you don't need. If you wait much longer, all will be full. If you like trying different resorts, book 2 resorts, we do this sometimes, that will give you a change of view. Then if you decide to cancel one, it will be a little easier, cancel the second resort. Just make sure you don't put yourself into any penalty time frames. I would sure ask my boss again. Going out west sounds good to me too. We have been wanting to do that for a while.

I tend to think conservatively and in todays economy I wouldn't be pushing my boss for time off if they seemed reluctant to approve it. I would probably just sit tight and not renew the AP's w/o a definite plan. That could end up being a waste of money if you buy them w/o dates planned to use them. I know there's some cost savings to renew them, but IMO it's not ENOUGH to worry about the difference to just buy new ones all over again later. I'd just rather be safe about what my plans are tho. If we buy AP's then I need to know that we've got plans to go and use them on at least 2-3 trips. Otherwise, we'll let them expire if the next trip isn't imminent. They'd just be sitting there with the clock ticking.

Meanwhile, I'd probably go ahead & book something for the summer just to know I had something...then could cancel it later if necessary. I just don't know that I'd shell money out to renew my AP's without approval for the time off.

Thanks to all for your responses.

I think maybe I explained it incorrectly. I will buy the AP's if I get a no to two weeks off. I have several 1 weeks approved (March, June, July, August, Dec) just not any that are together.

I also
have thought that with the economy maybe I shouldn't push my boss (who knows what decision they would make if I were gone for two weeks) and take the time that I have planned when I have it.
