Pretty New to this. We bought on ship in April and just got back from our first DVC trip this month. I see people talking about their DVC Guide but I have know idea who mine is and what do they do? I have made reservations already for next April also and have spoken to Member services but was just wondering if you could fill me in on this. Thanks.:confused3

A Guide is a DVC salesperson, nothing more. Disney uses the word Guide because they don't want you to think that they sold you something. The sales office at SSR is called a preview center for the same reason.

You will probably never talk to your Guide unless you want to buy another contract direct.

I'm on my second guide and have never met either of them. I would get an additional call from my first guide. I bought some points resale one time and he called and let me know he could get me poits at any resort through him. He certainly knew I bought through resale! I got a letter one day announcing his retirement. Shortly after that I got a call from my newly assigned guide. Nice lady and during the call she mentioned that she was located in Hawaii! So the guide's can be in many locatios. The guides are a nice resource but in over 10 years of ownership I've never needed to contact one.

Yeah, I have only talked to mine when I was looking to buy points. I did meet him the first year we bought and did the tour at SSR, so we got a few extra FP's for it.

He did check in last year, and was now working from home, but I filled him in that we were not at a point to buy more points.

Of course, since then, we added on another BLT points via the resale market, so I don't see ever buying direct again...

I talk to my guide once every few months, either cause he has emailed all his 3000+ members of new happenings at Disneyland or at WDW or because we stop by the DVC sales office to say hello and get stickers for the kids. Yes, theoretically my purchases in the last couple of years have have benefitted his pocket, but at the end of the day, all my purchases have been from my inquiries, not him reaching out. It's a shame they aren't all like him... Truly a great Disney ambassador.
