I took a tour/sales pitch with Greg @ the DVC homebase last October. I was really interested in VGF, but together my family decided to chip in for a resale contract at BWV. So far it's been awesome, except one thing- my mom called Greg when we were at VWL earlier this month, hoping to learn more about the member breakfast at The Wave (I didn't even know this was a thing, but a DVC rep in the lobby told us to contact our guide). Sure enough, the same Greg was assigned to my family as our guide. My mom left him a message on the first night of our trip. Weeks later (and no longer in the world, unfortunately...) we still haven't heard back from him. I was looking forward to purchasing a small, direct contract in a year or so, but now I'm not so sure I want to work with this guy. Is there anything I can do? Are everyone's guides generally responsive, or is this a direct v. resale thing?

Thanks!

No idea, but he does only make money on direct sales. That said it is in his best interest to respond to a question as you may buy again. You may be able to sitch guides. Someone else can answer that.

I know with our guide he is sometimes assigned to work on cruise ships and during that time it can be difficult for him to respond quickly.... but he still always responds. I would give a second chance, thinking maybe he didnt get the message... but if it continues to be a trend you may want to request a new guide when you are looking to buy again.

Guides are people, some are responsive. some not. Some take your resale buy as a slap in the face, after all you wasted his time then bought somewhere else, then you called him for info about a breakfast.

Only contact your salesperson when you want to buy, all other questions should be directed to MS.

I think that Disney is so good at setting the stage and selling, we really do believe that we have a friendly relationship with our guide. Some are friendly but they are there to sell and feed their family.

You can change guides by calling the main sales number, ask for a manager.

thanks for all the insight, everyone! Definitely wouldn't want to insult or bug anyone; Member Services told us the only way to book the breakfast was through our guide. Still learning the ins and outs of membership, I guess!
I'll make a note to call him when I'm ready to add a small contract.

What's "the member breakfast at The Wave"? Never heard of it or The Wave. Thanks.

I honestly have NEVER been contacted by a guide since I became a DVC owner. However, my purchases have all been resale, so maybe they just do not care or have a need to contact me.

I have no idea what the 'member breakfast at the Wave' is.

But 'The Wave' is a restaurant on the ground floor of the Contemporary hotel. I have breakfast there at least once every BLT stay.

I have a guide based on my long ago inquiry. I actually met him once, when I was at Downtown Disney and went to a booth and asked for a tour. They drove me to SSR, and my guide met me. I bought resale twice a year and 2 years later. He has never contacted me, other than mailings I get from DVC with his name on it.

I had never heard of the breakfast until the sales CM spoke with my parents. Maybe it's new? Or maybe it doesn't exist and it's another CM tall tale? Dunno.
