We visited 1 year ago, but ultimately the decision came down to saving the funds & not liking our guide ( who had an attitude with me about being indecisive). Me and my wife will be back August 13-16 for an anniversary. We are preety much ready to purchase, but have want to deal with someone else. Is this possible?

I would call the general sales number 800-800-9100 and ask to speak to a supervisor, they can change your guide for you and set up and appointment to meet with him/her during your vacation.

I wished I had asked for a different guide when we purchased, I didn't like her attitude then and I don't like it now. Since you are spending $$$$ they should let you switch to someone you are more comfortable with.

Ugh, if our guide had been like that, it would have absolutely cost him his sale. Our guide waited around 1.5 years for us to finally go for it. He never once commented on it, except for when I said something about "the deals couldn't have been THAT much better in '07 when we talked, could they?" and he brought up the exact deal he was offering us at SSR back then. But that was MY fault, LOL.

So, I guess at this point, the question is does anyone have any advice on who we should deal with? I want someone who is straightforward (i.e. if they are in it for the sale, just say so).

Our Guide Chris Mansour is great! He called our villa while we were at WDW last December to make sure everything was OK and touch base. It's nice to know some follow through and keep in touch.

Our guide was Cathy Leahy and she was awesome. Much like a post earlier, she waited over a year until we were ready. Thanks Cathy!

Her name is Linda Scolaro. She was just great. If you would like her phone # I can give it to you.

I don't have much experience with DVC and my guide since I just bought this AM :jumping1: but let me share my experience real quick.
I was referred to a guide, Jim McCoy, whom I called and left a message for Mon early evening. I just let him know my name, phone & email; his member referring me; and points & location I was interested in. He called me this AM (tue) and after introductions he said something to the fact how it seemed like I was familiar with the program and knew what I wanted and and we basically went on with the process of him gathering info and setting up some payment info and instructions about the info/contract being sent to me.
Not sure how he "knew" I was on top of my stuff and obviously I'm sure if I did have questions he would have answered them.
It was a short and sweet transaction with no sales talk and I didn't feel it was impersonal. He told me he's been doing this for 11 years and I know I've seen his name on other threads as a guide others recommend.

When I did the DVC walk through last July I had a different guide then I have now. I was not ready at the time but kept thinking about DVC. I had just started looking all the info I had when I got a call from DVC. I was put on the line with a guide. Is there any reason besides my first guide does not work there anymore that someone else would call me? :confused3 I feel bad now for using a different guide as the first person I dealt with was really quite wonderful. I just didn't think about it at the time.

Our guide the past 7 years has been Celeste, absolutely wonderful, just talked to her this week.

Wow! This sounds familiar to me!

We are trying to get pricing info for other resorts before committing to OKW. The guide we worked with onsite a month ago promised to email pricing info on Monday but we never received anything.

DH called yesterday, she apologized and promised to send it today. He just called again (after receiving nothing all day) and she said she'd do it right away - then proceeded to send us a link to points charts and the Dreams booklet she gave us before. Nothing on other resort pricing at all. :headache:

DH thinks we should just commit to OKW and move on without the other info, but I'm not so sure.

How much will we have to work with her going forward? Does it make a difference having a "good" guide versus a "bad" guide?

(OP: sorry for the hijack, I hope you don't mind the tangent)

I want to second that Celeste is a great guide. I'm one of those "indecisive" people who have not bought yet (not that we're actually indecisive, but it's really just that we need to pay off at least one of our car loans before we can take more debt on).

Celeste has been wonderful to us as well, even though we haven't spent a dime. She calls once every 3-4 months just to check in, to explain any new incentives and to find out if anything has changed.

We took a tour in February with Cynthia Curinton. Very low pressure. She steered us away from BLT to AK because we knew we couldn't plan our trips that far in advance. She called recently with the new incentivesand we explained that we were in the process of buying a SSR contract through resale and she was very gracious and wished us luck.
