I was told by my Guide that the Grand will be going on sale in May or June at the latest. He tells me he has a great relationship with his manager and after a few drinks his boss spilled the beans one night after work.

I am so excited! I guess it matters who you know. No one else seems to know this. I don't think he would lie to me.

He seems like an honest guy. Anyone else heard this?

Now my guide has assured me that there is no way the Grand Californian will go on sale this May or June and that the earliest would be late 2008, as the construction on the DVC has not progressed enough for sales to begin. Also said that points will not sell out with the Founders Program and that there will be points available for general DVC membership. But, did say that GCV will sell fast.

Wish I knew the real answer. I guess we just have to wait and see. If the GCV models do open this May then you'd think there'd have to be some good info on what sales begin. :confused3

I was told by someone (not my guide) this past weekend at DLR, that sales to Founders Program begin this May/ June, after the DVC Member preview of the GC DVC model units. This person made it seem that way, and I may have misunderstood the exact words he used. He also said that points will not sell out to the Founders, but quite possibly will sell out to the general membership, and never be offered to the general public.
We looked at the construction, and the first floor almost completely covers the basement. Cement pillars rise from the first floor to the second floor level.

What did you have to do to get on the founders program?

TIA:)

Those who bought DVC points at Disneyland will have first right to buy at GVC and then general membership will have dibs on what's left over. I guess this is in the contracts that have been sold as of late in DL. My take on the speculation is that there will be points left for general DVC membership (I hope!), but some are buying 160 points now at Disneyland (AKV or SSR) just for the guarantee that they will be able to purchase GVC when it does goes on sale.

With all due respect, he's a timeshare salesman. Their job is to seem like honest guys.

Disney may or may not open up sales in that timetable. But, I strongly doubt that information Disney is keeping secret was told to a manager, who told one of his salesmen with permission to share it with the general public.

Sorry, but if your guide truly said this to you...in my opinion he and his boss should both be fired. I know that sounds harsh, but really for him to talk to a client about the two of them going out drinking and then letting confidential information slip out is very unprofessional.

May or June 2009 most likely. :thumbsup2

I was told 99.99 percent certain that the Grand will go on sale and the Towers will follow.

Sorry to be a Doubting Thomas but...

Did anyone else notice that the original poster has only 2 posts? How reliable is this source? I searched for their first post and I can't even find that.

I would take OP's info with a HUGE grain of salt! :sad2:

Well, I spoke with a Disney Insider (churro cart CM) and I have reliable information that the OP is correct. :lmao:

For what its worth, this appeared on mouseplanet.com on April 14, 2008 at http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=dl080414xx

.. **************** reported last week that the model rooms for the Disney's Vacation Club Grand Californian Villas will open at the Disneyland Resort DVC sales center by Memorial Day weekend (link). According to the site, DVC members who live in Southern California will have the opportunity to preview the models May 23 to 26. DVC members who bought into the timeshare program through the Disneyland Resort DVC sales center (the owners known as "Founding Member") will have the exclusive opportunity to purchase up to 160 points in the Grand Californian Villas for the two months before any remaining points are offered to other DVC members and to the general public.
