DVC Golf Membership - Associate Members

I have some questions about the DVC Golf Membership offer and golf discounts.

Can associate members get the 15% off golf discount? or purchase the Golf Membership?

I called the GOLF number and they didn't know the difference between the member/associate member and were unsure. She said as long as they were a DVC member and showed their card they could get the discounts. I hate to have my brother purchase this and then get turned away when he checks in for a t-time.

Can I purchase the GOLF membership and give my brother the guest passes (to golf on his own) or are those passes for me to bring him with me as a guest.

Thanks for any info. The WDW-GOLF cast member gave me another number to call so I left a message with them to try to get more info.

Associates are not eligible for DVC membership extras.

Only the member, who can show a member card with his name (hard or electronically), along with a driver's license or other state ID, can qualify for the discount. Associate members do not get membership cards. Note that as long as the member is one of the players, anyone in the member's group, up to four total, gets the discount.
