The discontent amongst DVC members about the golf membership changes is well documented on this board. Some of us bought the memberships last year and then the discount structure changed on us.

You can now be more frustrated. Disney Golf is offering a summer Price Slice rate of $59 from 10 am to 3pm, and $49 after 4 pm. This price is available to everyone! It even includes free range balls where our membership does not. Our discounted rate after 10 am is $53 and with the purchase of range balls you might match the Price Slice or even lose money. They will not honor our discount on the Price Slice. If you're a summer golfer, our membership purchase just amounted to a $50 donation.

Disney Vacation Club management as well as Disney Golf should be embarassed. I hope in the future the Vacation Club distances themselves away such a poorly executed venture. If you would like to voice your displeasure, please feel free to call *** ******, (***) ***-****. I was referred to him by the phone representative and it was mentioned I could speak with him. I believe in he works for Disney Golf.

In summary, our membership does not hold the value it did last summer and now anyone can get what we get for the same or cheaper price. Unless you golf before 10 or year round, it is really of no more value than the paper it is printed on. Go Disney!!!

On a positive note, DVC members can now participate in group lessons on Thursday and Friday morning for a nominal fee of $15. This is nice offering and I hope the Vacation Club is more careful to consider offerings that reflect a perk or value in the future.

EDIT: A reminder that we do not allow contact info for specific CMs to be posted on the DVC Boards, only the generic contact info, like Member Satisfaction, etc. If one of them refers you to someone specific, then you should call that person, but please do not post the contact info for that individual - Chuck S [/edit]

Boy, that really stinks! So the DVC golf card doesn't do any good after 10:00? What's ironic about that is that when we joined DVC (8 years ago), the DVC golf card was only good after 10:00. Since DH golfs early in the morning, back then it didn't do him any good, but now it does (granted, not much though).

It gets even better....Golfnow.com has rates even lower. Today you can play the Palm for $35.00 at 1130. The problem with Golfnow now is you cant plan ahead. Their lowest rates are posted 2 days ahead of time.

Yes, that after 10 DVC discount during summer season really provides nothing this summer season (range balls, by the way, are $7 a bucket). However, it is even worse than you think. The before ten resort guest rates for golf are $89 during the week and $99 on weekends during summer. At the 25% discount, DVC members with a DVC annual golf card pay $66.70 (plus tax) during the week and $74.25 (plus tax) on weekends for pre-10 times. You can buy from Disney (having nothing to do with DVC) a 2-day golf pass (and you can buy as many as you want) for $140 (plus tax) if you are a resort guest good for pre-10 am times during the summer any day of the week (including weekends), meaning you can pay $70 a round without having to spend the $50 plus tax to get the DVC annual golf card. In other words, the DVC member discount is essentially completely worthless for summer-time whether you play before or after 10.

And on top of all that they are giving free club rentals to resort guests, so you don't have to pay the addition bag fees to bring your own clubs if your flying.
Fortunately for myself, I use the DVC Golf Membership at all times of the year so it still saves me some money, but as with many of the DVC perks it's going in the wrong direction.

Even other times of year, you need to check closely. In prime season this year (mid-Jan through April), when the new rules first went into effect, for rounds before 10 am, the 2-day Disney pass was cheaper than two rounds using the 25% pre-10 DVC discount. Thus, so far for this entire year, the 25% DVC discount for pre-ten times has turned out to be worse than the 2-day Disney discount pass for resort guests for which you do not need to pay $50 for an annual card. My guess is that will continue into the fall season and thus end up being true for the entire year. That would mean effectively that the DVC discount provides something of value (and much less of something than it did before) only for after 10 times for 7 months of the year, October through April.

Moreover, even that savings is an illusion. During that prime season this year the difference for after ten times between the 40% DVC discount and the 2-day pass was only $11 per round (weekend) and $16 (weekdays). Thus, if you played four rounds a year during that time and for times after ten, your savings in comparison to the 2-day pass would have been miniscule at best if you used the DVC card because of its $50 plus tax cost.

I don't play on-site anymore. There are much better courses off-site within a 1/2 hour at a more reasonable cost. We often drive, so its easy for me, but even when we fly and use ME, I prefer to rent a compact car for a few days while we're there. Its still cheaper and I'm not locked into playing after 10 (I like playing near dawn so i have the rest of the day at WDW).

Hey Jack,
Another Nutmeg Stater here.

I to am going to start playing off site more in the future.
I'm familiar with Falcon Fire, Orange County National, Celebration.
What are some of the courses you play, so I can check them out online.

Thanks
