The issue with PP that caused surprise was upgrading a park hopper plus to Gold AP after using a water park admission. The general understanding here & on the Ticket sticky is that if a water park admission has been used, the ticket can only be upgraded to a higher level AP that includes water park admission. Had nothing to do with upgrading on a blackout date.

I wasn’t referring to the water park situation, however, it is very helpful!

The OP asked if they could upgrade tickets used during a blackout date to Gold AP post-blackout date. @Madame is doing the same thing.

We, on the other hand, are using *and* renewing tickets to DVC Gold AP during blackout dates. I assumed this was allowed and didn’t need to wait until the blackout dates were over?

I’m pretty sure you can. I remember reading reports that you are good as long as you don’t plan on going back into the parks after upgrading. Maybe @ravenclawtrekkie can help if she’s still around.

There’s no rule that I’m aware of that prohibits the purchase/upgrade/renewal of a gold pass on a blackout date?

I hope that’s not the excuse they give me, because we are planning to upgrade/renew on Jan 2.

Me too! We may be in guest services at the same time trying to upgrade!

I’m confused. Do you plan to use a Platinum or higher AP, or a non-AP ticket, to enter the parks on the blackout dates, then renew to a DVC Gold AP on the last day you use the Platinum AP/other ticket? That should work fine. If you have a Gold AP already, of course you won’t be able to use it to enter the parks on a blackout date, although you could renew it outside a park on a blackout date.
