DVC FP+

Between the Genie+ and the ridiculous cost for new APs, why can't DVC members be given 3 FPs per day for whatever park they enter? VDC members need some perks!
I would love DVC perks to include complimentary Genie+ LL, but sadly that won't happen. The price of the Sorcerer AP is a bit more AND you have to pay extra for the MM but supposedly the renewal of MM is less than $99 when you renew.

I am hoping to at least get a discount on the MM when I renew my pass for my October trip.

I wish that they would at least do one LL pass for onsite guests at value resorts, 2 for moderate and 3 for deluxe resorts. Not the paid one but the "front of the line" rides.

Or they could let onsite guests into the park one hour early instead of the 30 minutes.

If they are not bring TIW back, a 20% discount on food/alcohol for DVC would be great.

That is my short DVC wish list - as far as membership extras go....

If you are within the 60 day renewal, call and do it before Sept 8th. You’d be eligible to renew at the Gold price, and when you activate the voucher, it will include the MM for free when you are given the Sorcerer pass

When you activate a Gold Pass (even after 9/8), you will be issued a Gold Pass.

Good to know because I read it differently… and read reports of people being told differently.

My DD has one so if she goes on the October trip as planned we will see!

So, apparently DFB is reporting the same thing. Are they going to match the block out dates from the Gold Pass, or enforce the Sorcerer Pass block out dates. Gold blocks out Easter, while the Sorcerer blocks out Thanksgiving.

I called and I had to buy tickets to may the park reservations. Member services could have and should have let me renew early in April but I guess they had a new person?
patrick sandberg from MS emailed me back and supposedly he has notes on my acvount that I can exchange my 5 day to the AP renewal when we go in March. The email from June specifically has Gold pass renewal and I hope that in October they will let me renew for the gold pass cost and include MM at no charge. I spoke to him on the phone and he said that my daughter’s gold ap voucher will be the new sorcerer pass and NOT the gold pass.
idk where you are getting your information about renewal vouchers getting the MM but I would appreciate it if you could post it.
I am not renewing my AP before arriving now even though I am in the window because then it will be like paying double. I don’t want tickets just sitting on my account for a year.
now if I knew they would refund my ticket purchase, I would renew today.
thanks

Hey @Sandisw. After many many hours on the phone being transferred and speaking to 5 cast members, I am happy - no ecstatic! That I have been successful in using the value of my 5 day park tickets towards my DVC Gold pass renewal!!!

I paid $190 total for both of our passes. The value of the tix was 1104 i think.

ONE of the cast members was able to confirm what you posted earlier. When we activate our passes at guest services, we will get a Sorcerer pass and free memory maker.

We were going to use the value of the tickets and renew at guest services but that wouldn’t work because of the new passes being released (I didn’t want to pay more for less).

Woohoo! I am glad you were able to achieve it and get more info that the new pass will be Sorcerer as it will apply to my DD when she goes to activate her certificate!

Do we know for certain that hotel (deluxe/dvc) will not get some benefit with Genie+ or Lighting Lane (per ride pay) options?

Haven't been following closely enough yet.

Disney hasn't released anything that gives any indication that resort guests will get any additional benefits.

Give it time. I doubt it will be in the next few months - they have plenty of incentives with the 50. But this is a brand new re-invention of FP and ride access, onsite perks, and deluxe resort incentives.

DVC does not get "given" perks from on high. They have to negotiate for them with the other business units. Kinda a "you scratch our back, we will scratch yours". They will need time to negotiate for any perks, and I doubt that the Parks BU will want to negotiate until they understand better what Genie+ is, how it affects their business, how many guests purchase it, and where it is most beneficial.

I would not be surprised however if after they get a feel for this whole program and how it changes their dynamics if they negotiate some benefit with DVC. But again, that's going to take a little time. Just be patient.

Resort guests will have have a slight advantage (7am vs park open) when reserving the additional, paid per ride LL
This advantage could be significant for those who are desperate to ride Rise of the Resistance.

Still, based on current rumors, it’s going to cost a family of four $80-$100 for this advantage.

I’m a little surprised Disney didn’t include Genie+ in the price of Deluxe Resorts as a way to (cheaply) be more competitive with Universal’s Deluxe Resorts.

It appears Disney really thinks Guests will pay any price to stay at their Deluxe Resorts.

I think there are too many guests in staying in Disney’s deluxe and DVC resorts to include it.

All Genie+ does is let you get a FastPass return time.

Back when it was called FastPass, EVERYONE had access to FastPass, including those staying offsite.

DVC and Deluxe Resorts are only a fraction of WDW Guests. There are not too many DVC and Deluxe Resort Guests.

What’s really happening here is that Disney executives think that if someone is willing to pay more than $500 per night for a room, they’ll going to be willing to pay $60 more (for a family of four) for Genie+.

This is all about money, not the number of Guests at DVC or Deluxe Resorts.

If everyone who had FP+ purchases Genie+, then the entire system falls apart. For Genie+ to work the way they want it to work, they need a limited number of people to create a separate class of citizen. People may not want to hear it, but there it is.

Disney does not want EVERYONE to purchase Genie+. They do not even want all the Deluxe and DVC to have it. They want to create an upper middle class tier.

I can certainly see them negotiating a discount for blue card owners once it’s up and running,

I fully expect it to be used as a promotion to cash guests to replace room discounts, etc.

So, it will be nice if they can work something out!

I think Disney would love to have everyone purchase Genie+, that would maximize their profit. Given the price point they set it at, a lot of people will be buying it.

As you note, $15 is not going to discourage a lot of Guests.

I would not be surprised if more than half of WDW Guests buy Genie+.

TEA’s estimate for WDW attendance in 2019 was 58 million. Let’s say that only 25 million purchase Genie+. At the “introductory price” of $15, that’s an incredible profit considering the core of Genie+ is reused FastPass hardware and software.
