DVC for DCL

Please dont get mad at me. Just a question. I know how everyone says not to use DVC points for a cruise but was wondering after looking at the Dreams book and the point chart for DCL, are DVCers limited to the cruises that are listed on the chart or can the points be used on any cruise?

I've never seen the Dreams book, but my vacation planner or the charts on line with DVC seem to have every cruise listed. You can use points on them until DCL or DVC cuts points ressies off. There is only a limited amount of staterooms that are allowed to be point ressies, so if you wait too long to book, you could be shut out from a points ressie. Now, I've booked my first cruise on points for July, a 3 night, is it a HUGE waste of points, yes it it, but hey they're mine to waste. Will I do it again, maybe I'm using 400 points for a 3 night cruise, which is completely insane.

I think you can use them for almost every/any cruise. There may be a limited amount of staterooms to book with points but we have not had any problems yet (4 cruises). You can also book two years in advance.

Don't forget you can use a combination of points and cash. The cash portion will need to be paid in full at time of booking. We used a combination of points and cash for each cruise and have had two cabins for each cruise so far.

There are just so many variations to a cruise booking, its really hard to compare prices. Our cruise is listed as high value (going end of May), we're in a Cat. 9, two on points, one on cash. You do get a points discount if you book a future cruise within 4 days after your cruise. I plan to use points for a 2011 cruise...hope the points don't go up too much!!

We're Peak season in a cat 10 SPH. All of us are booked on points, so 398 total.
