I took in way too much info to process it all in our tour. I thought he told me dvc members can access all flash resident discounts ?? Is that correct?
I’m looking at the fla residents weekday annual pass?
Thanks

Trust me lol I don’t want that but even my 17 year old kid swears he said we were eligible for all fla resident discounts

No, DVC membership does NOT make you a Florida resident.

Only Fl residents & Blue Card DVC qualify to purchase the Gold Annual Pass. DVC members do not qualify for any other Fl resident passes.

Remember that discounts and perks change often. What we are currently eligible for as far as park passes are Gold, Platinum or Platinum Plus annual passes (and renewals) for the same price as Florida Residents. We can not have them debited monthly, unlike a florida resident. We have to pay up front.

The GOLD pass is FL Resident and DVC ONLY.

We are not allowed any other of the specialized Florida pasases, unless we are also a Florida resident.

Thanks Chuck maybe that’s what he said it was SO much information..

Thanks it was so much info . We are blue cards so that’s good at least, but we only have one maybe two free days in FLA in December so not sure an AP would work well, but the weekly only thing would have be amazing

Here is Disney's Proof of Florida Residency requirements. It's not the same as the definition of "residency" that most people think of. If you own a vacation/second home in Florida, you can qualify by providing something from the second list of items. You can be a Florida "resident" for Disney purposes, but not for other purposes. Being from CT, I'd love to be a true Florida resident for many financial reasons, but our home in Orlando would allow me the Florida Resident pass -- but I get the DVC one anyway.

Proof of Florida Residency
Proof of a Florida residential address is required.

For Florida resident tickets, the persons who will use the adult tickets must be Florida residents and must be present at the time of ticket pick up.

For each room or package reservation, the adult who booked the reservation must be a Florida resident and must be present at check-in.

For each room or package reservation and for each adult ticket purchased, you may provide any of the following:

  • Valid Florida driver's license
  • Valid Florida state-issued ID card (must have a Florida address)
  • Valid Florida-based military ID
If you do not have one of the IDs indicated above, then for each room or package reservation and for each adult ticket purchased you must provide one of the following dated within the last two months and evidencing a Florida residential address together with a corresponding picture ID (passport, driver's license, state identification card):

  • Monthly mortgage statement
  • Florida vehicle registration or title
  • Homeowner's insurance policy or bill
  • Automobile insurance policy or bill
  • Utility bill
  • Mail from a financial institution, including checking, savings, or investment account statement
  • Mail from a Federal, State, County or City government agency
Bills can be no more than two (2) months old. PO Boxes are not accepted as proof of residency. Current bills printed from electronic versions are acceptable, though photocopies and fax copies are not.

As to establishing Florida residency, you cannot use your ownership of DVC or occupancy of DVC rooms as a basis for claiming Florida residency, including you cannot use it to show you have an address in Florida or an intent to be a Florida resident. Those things are disclaimed in the official documents you get as part of the sale.

Seriously last thing I want to do is establish fla or any USA residency. We simply thought he told us we were eligible for same passes

He probably was generalizing in that only FL residents and DVC members are eligible for certain AP's. In this case it's the Gold AP which was added as a DVC option a few years ago. FL residents have more passes they can get but I could see "salespeak" implying that DVC gets the same discounts as FL residents. Not completely true but close enough for some I'd guess. There are guides around that generalize a bit too much and have taken on the sales techniques of other timeshares.

Yeah I hmm let’s say “misunderstood” a fair bit I think perhaps with his vague info . I don’t want to say misled but ...

I agree, my guide made it sound like we would be eligible for all Florida resident tickets. I was a little disappointed when I visited this last time for a quick 3 day stay and realized I couldn’t get the regular Florida resident tickets. Usually I get the annual pass so it isn’t an issue.

Guides name start with A?
I was looking at the weekday pass. A fair bit cheaper as ap for us isn’t economical as we are planning on a trip every couple of years as flights are pricey

Yup... I can definitely hear a salesman saying “Members get Florida resident pricing for passes” (meaning platinum & gold), with no mention of the other passes residents can get.
