DVC Firsts - BCV, MNSSHP, '09 Members Cruise, Kidani

We loved the Cape May Buffet Breakfast with our DGC, and intend to make it a family tradition before any cruise we take together!

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, too!!!

So happy you had fun at MNSSHP!! Love that your little guy loved every minute!!:goodvibes And the Hallowishes fireworks are AMAZING, aren't they?!!!! :worship:

looking forward to more!!:thumbsup2

DS certainly enjoyed himself. He was so tired afterwards. We loved the fireworks and DS wasn't afraid of the loud noise which was a bonus.

The Cape May Cafe buffet breakfast was delicious. Everyone was pleased. I especially loved the bread pudding. We would go back again.

I'm enjoying your trip report. Thank you! We were at that night's MNSSHP party too. We then went on a 7 night Disney Cruise to Eastern Caribbean with Tortola. Maybe I'll get around to doing a trip report too. I always intend to but never do.

I especially iked seeing your pictures of BCV. That will be our next DVC stay in May. I can't wait to see and read about your Member Cruise! Thanks again for taking the time to do a trip report! :goodvibes

Hi Marsha,

I think Charles did a darn good job taking those pictures, especially of you and Corey. It's great that he loves the characters; so many young kids are really intimidated by their size. The kids are probably expecting them to be like the toys or something.

I know I keep saying this, but Charles is such a cutie!

MNSSHP was a good time. We went after the cruise, not the night you were there, unfortunately. We liked BCV a lot too; would almost consider getting points there.

Thank you for taking the time to read my report and leave a comment. I would love to read about your Eastern Caribbean cruise. How did you like it? I had a wonderful time on the Members Cruise.

We liked BCV. I especially liked the pool and that Cape May Cafe was right there.

I was definitely amazed at some of the pictures he took. Some were of the ground and ceiling but others were very good. He is getting a toddler digital camera for Christmas. And, thank you again.

Did you dress up for MNSSHP? If you did, I would love to see some pictures.

I was looking forward to this DIS meet since I had been chatting with the members of the cruise meet thread for almost a year. Plus, this would be my first DIS Meet. DH did not understand my excitement. But to me, it was like I was going to meet old friends for the first time if that makes sense. It is amazing how much we had come to know one another just by chatting back and forth. Plus, Mary (WDWLVR) and Mark (MarkRG) did a wonderful job in establishing the DIS thread and a ’09 Members cruise webpage with pictures of some of our fellow cruisers, plus, a lot more. Thank you.

Since I had to wake DH up, we were a little late. A lot of people were already there. But, in no time I was hugging people, shaking hands, and laughing. It was great!

After chatting with some folks, we unfortunately had to leave. We went to check out some nearby restaurants at the resort since we were having dinner with the parents. It had finally stopped raining so we were able to walk outside.

We went to Beaches and Cream and decided that we would eat there. We saw Sue and her family from the DIS Meet there getting some food. We then stopped by the arcade and played a few games before we headed back to the room. By the time we got back and I had popped some popcorn, the parents were calling us to tell us they were in the lobby making their way up to the room.

We sat in the room for a little bit and chitchatted. Then, we headed to Beaches & Cream. After perusing the menu, we placed our order.

The food was quite tasty.

While we were eating, I noticed that some people at another table had just finished eating the kitchen sink. Now, I had heard a lot about the kitchen sink and how big it was. I did not see what it looked like when it came out but I did see the aftermath and that the ice cream and all of the toppings are put in a kitchen sink.

Next it was time for dessert – what we all really wanted. And, believe me it was worth the wait. DH & I shared dessert.

While we were finishing up our desserts, DS decided that he wanted to listen to some music. He kept trying to put money into the jukebox. No matter how hard he tried the quarter would not go in.

After dinner, we walked back to the room snapping pictures along the way.

Once back in the room we changed into our swimwear and headed for the quiet pool. DS was so happy he could finally go in the pool.

While in the pool, we saw that we had a visitor.

It started to rain so I got out the pool but the guys stayed in. I took a couple of pictures.

After a nice time in the pool and meeting a nice guy and his children (whom we gave the FPs to), we went inside and prepared for our departure. In the words of DS – “Mickey’s ship” here we come.

Marsha, how did you enjoy Beaches n Cream? We'd gone over to Biergarten that night; it was quite good. We didn't make it to the quiet pool until that Friday after the cruise, but it was lovely.

No, we didn't do costumes for the MNSSHP, we just went as our own curmudgeonly selves ;) .

I enjoyed Beaches & Cream. It was a nice quick meal and the food was delicious. The dessert was :cloud9:. We really did not want to do a table service. We wanted a quick meal so we could go swimming. Beaches & Cream hit the spot.

As you can see, we did not wear costumes either. We admired other people's costumes and there were some elaborate ones too.

I love this thread. You have done such a nice job with your pictures and explanations. I do enjoy the pictures with your family in a little more there is more life to those pictures. What a cute son. Wow I hope I don't sound that weird and crazy.:upsidedow. I hope you will continue with pictures and stories of the cruise.

I am really enjoying your trip report and can't wait to hear about your cruise!

Thanks for taking the time to post your report for all of us to enjoy. I'm really looking foward to what you have for us regarding the cruise and Kidani. I've been on Royal Caribbean, but haven't done Disney yet. We own at AKL and stayed at Kidani this past June and loved it.

You do not sound weird or crazy and thank you. I enjoy looking at TRs where there are pictures of the family. It brings the TR to life. So, there will definitely be more.

I am really enjoying your trip report and can't wait to hear about your cruise!
Thank you and welcome!

LOL - the dessert very much looks worthy of a :cloud9:.
It was worth it.

Thank you for reading it. I am glad that you are enjoying it. You have to do a Disney cruise one day. I have not sailed on Royal Caribbean but my parents have and they enjoyed themselves. We wish we could have stayed longer at Kidani. We loved it too.

We planned on getting to the ship around 11:00 a.m. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned. DS kept waking up during the night and ended in bed with us. When the alarm clock went off all I could do was moan. It was a slow moving morning. But, we finally got dressed and called the valet and bell services. During this time my DM called and wished us well.
We were finally on the move. The car was packed, we were all buckled up, and were about to pull off. Then, I smelled something. DS had decided to relieve himself. After a quick change, we were on our way to the gas station. Once we filled up the gas tank, we were finally on our way.

It was a quick drive to the port (except for the tolls) and these sights made it worthwhile.

DH drove through the gates, pulled up to the port, helped unload the bags, and then parked the car. While DS & I waited for DH to return, we took some pictures.

While we were waiting, we saw the captain. I would have taken a picture but DS had the camera. Finally, DH returned and we were on our way to check-in for boarding.

The check- in process was smooth. I filled out all the paperwork before we left home. So, in no time, we had received our boarding number, number 13, and had taken our security photo. Now, since DS had not slept well, he was beginning to have a major meltdown. He was not a happy camper. He wanted to board the ship – NOW! I left DH with the bags which he was complaining there were too many of and I took DS for a tour. While walking around with DS, Minnie was out taking pictures. We hopped in line but Minnie left and out came Mickey.

Meeting Mickey pacified DS for a little while but when we left Mickey side he had a conniption. He wanted to stay with Mickey a little longer. He was crying so that the singing pirates gave him a gold coin. That helped a little. I tried to get DS to take some more pictures but he just would not cooperate.

100_3957.jpg

While walking around with DS, I met Robbie (Donald is #1) and her sister. DS would not speak but it was good seeing her. While chatting with her, our boarding number was called.:banana::yay::yay::dance3::dance3:

Finally, our boarding number was called and we were headed on board. We were given our lanyards and DVC Mickey ears. We stopped for a picture and then headed unto the ship. We were welcomed home and introduced. The first DVC related thing we saw was an ice sculptor.

We headed to Parrot Cay for lunch. However, the restaurant was full. They directed us to Beach Blanket Buffet but we did not want to go there because we did not want to lug around the bags and DS. We waited in the Promenade Lounge until our room was ready and reviewed the ship’s deck plan and the Welcome Aboard activities.

It was nearing 1:30 p.m. so we headed to our room, 7014. We took the midship elevators to the 7th floor. Of course, I snapped some pictures along the way.

We reached deck 7 and had to wait a few minutes until we were allowed in our room. When we opened the door to our room this is what we saw.

Inside the Mickey suitcases were a DVC water bottle, license plate, gym bag, luggage tag, frame, and hat.

We also received a Castaway Club gift.

Wow - they gave you some really neat goodies! Do you mind sharing what category of room you had and what you thought of it?
Every mom has been there, with a kid having a melt down right at a time that you have been looking forward to as a magical moment! Surprising to hear that the dining room was full! I have been on a few cruises (not Disney yet) and never had that happen.
Can't wait to hear more! :goodvibes

We had a category 8 room which is an oceanview room with one large porthole. I have since learned that category 9 rooms are the same size room but are on decks 1 & 2. They are also less expensive. The rooms on deck 1 have two small portholes and the rooms on deck 2 have the one large porthole. We enjoyed the large porthole. DS would look out of it every day.

Anyway, we liked the room. It was very comfortable and met our needs. The stateroom attendant moved the table closer to the sofa and set up the pank 'n play in that area. When it was time for DS to go to sleep we just closed the curtains. It was also good having the split bathroom. While one was in the shower, the other could be brushing his/her teeth or sitting on the throne. :rolleyes1 There was also ample closet space since we stored our luggage under the bed. The bed was very comfortable.

I was shocked when they said the dining room was full. Of course we could have gone upstairs but like I said we carried on too much and DS was in a mood. Plus, I like the fact that the dining room attendants would bring your drinks to the table. I know for next time to arrive at the port a little earlier.
