Hi all. DH & I are looking to join DVC next year and I have a question about the yearly fee. According to the Disney Visa web site, you can us your Dream Dollars to put towards the yearly member fees. Has anyone done this? If so, is it difficult or do they treat it like a credit card payment?

Haven't done it but everytime else I've dealth with Disney VISA its been a good experience

it's very easy - you just order your Visa Rewards Card and then call member services with the rewards number. that's it!

Very simple to do. We pay almost our entire dues every year with reward dollars. You need to make sure you pay balance off every month though, otherwise it's not worth it. interest would be more than the 1% you get.

also the new rewards cards are refillable, once you have the card, you can go online and transfer reward dollars to the card. Don't have to call Visa anymore to do it. You do need to call member services to pay the dues. Like wishiwereindisney said, just give reward card number to MS.

As others have said, it's very easy to do. If you don't have enough reward dollars to cover what you owe you just pay the balance with a credit card.

We've looked into the Disney Visa card, but feel the 1% is too little. We have a Discover Escape that gives us 2%, plus double that if you shop online through them at select merchants. We really racked up the extra points this Christmas. For every 10,000 points, you get $100 off any travel expense - we used ours on our last Disney trip to save a ton on airfare. Even the regular Discover card gives you a higher % back. I know the Disney Visa offers some good perks, like advance room discounts, but until their reward % gets larger, I think there are better cards out there.

We also pay part of our maintenance fees with our Disney rewards.

I think you have to pay your dues in full at the beginning of the year - someone correct me if I am wrong please.

You can have the directly debit it from your bank account monthly.

Yes, but I don't think you can use your credit card/disney reward dollars if you do that since it comes out of your checking.

Has anyone had them charged to their cc monthly - automatic? and if so - how would they apply the rewards?

If you are signed up for monthly debit, you can call MS and apply your reward dollars towards your dues and then pay the remainder via monthly debit. If I remember correctly, they don't reduce your monthly payment, you just end up making fewer payments. For example if you had enough reward dollars to pay half your dues and called MS to apply them towards your balance, they would continue to debit the usual amount each month but your dues would be paid in full as of your June payment.

Got it! Has it always been? I don't remember reading it before when someone has asked the question.

Good to know - will have to tell my brother and sil since they do the automatic monthly debit.

Thank you Lisa and Luv4Disney. :)

To clarify one point - even though I don't think this is exactly what they are asking...

You can pay your annual dues on any credit card - doesn't have to be a Disney card. I get Amazon points when paying my dues (Note - by any card, I know they take Visa/MC - not sure what else they take - but any branded Visa/MC.) You have to pay the full year in advance. But you have until Feb 15th to pay without penalty. Because of the way billing cycles work, I often don't end up sending money for the dues until April 1st.

Thanks for the info. I did think of something else - do they charge a monthly fee if you go with the 12 month payments? If so is it an interest rate or a flat fee? (My car insurance company charges flat $3 a month if you don't pay in full at the beginning of the year)

There is no fee if you opt to pay monthly however your only option is to pay via direct debit from a bank account. So if you want to pay with a credit card to get the rewards you must pay in full in January. If you opt to pay monthly your "reward" is that there is no fee for spreading out the payments over 12 months.

When I looked at the flier the APR wasn't that great. So as others have said, you have to pay it off every month. I have a CC that gives up to 3% back and you can get that in the form of a check. I'm sticking with my other card that gives more rewards.

Perfect! Thank you so much!
