DVC Fast Passes

Thought I would ask here before e-mailing/calling DVC.

When we went on the DVC "tour" and purchased our membership we were told that on our next visit "home" we can get something like 30 Fast passes by stopping into the DVC office????

They mentioned its a perk that can only be used once.

Is this correct? How does that work?
Is it like normal fast passes? If I remember correctly, it didn't quite sound like a normal fast passes.

we used these on our trip last february. each fast pass card they gave us had 3 "fast passes" on them. they could be used at any time that the fast passes were available but you didnt have to wait for one fast pass to be used up before you used another...they were great *except* we were not careful enough to read the fine print that stated that they expire 3 or 4 days after they are given to you. we had planned our HS trip after that time frame and went to use the ones we had saved for Toy Story Mania and were out of luck and WASTED them - boooo.
To get them, we just called the cast member who sold us our membership (I know there is a special name for them, but I forget) a few days ahead of time and he met us at the DVC sales center at SSR with them.

We were given 30 fast passes on our last buy in. You are given cards that you will insert into the fast pass machine. Fast Passes must still be available for that day to use


For an example. Toy Story Mania. You arrive at the fast pass terminal at 11am. The current return time is 3 pm for a normal fastpass . Your fast pass is dispensed from using one of your cards and the time for you to ride Toy Storyis 11am-12 pm.

These are instant fast passes.

So it sounds like if you are their for 7 days you can only use them the first 3-4 days (unless they give them to you in the middle of your trip)

No biggie...just means some extra planning.

No this is only half true. just pick up the number you need for the 4 days (this includes the day you pick them up). So day 1 pick up 5 cards for 15 fast passes . On day 5 pick up the rest. Split them however you want.

These are perks for touring, they vary and are not guaranteed. The cards they give out have three fast pass uses, the number they give you depends on your party usually (one per person). Sometimes they will give you a few more, but do not assume that it will ahppen.

Personally, the time to tour is not worth getting a few fast passes if that's your goal. Now if you want to tour, great, if you get a special perk at the end, even better, but I wouldn't go into it assuming that is what will happen.

The availability to get these is between you and your Guide. It isn't a perk, it's a sales reward. The number given out and when is at the discretion of your Guide.

We made the same mistake with ours and were really disappointed when we tried to use them at TSM and couldn't. So last year, a few weeks before our trip DH called our guide and told him what happened the year before and asked if there was any way to get some more and he said he would have some sent to our resort for us when we checked in. And sure enough they were there when we checked in. We made sure to use them this time.

Unless you were promised them by your guide on our tour or when you purchased, there are no FPs to be had. It's not a DVC perk. That is explained in someone's post above.

30 passes total. You will receive 10 cards. Each card is good for 3 Instant Fast Passes.

It also depends on who your Guide is. We were assigned a Telesales Guide and even though we bought from her direct, she was not given any fast passes to give out. I complained to DVD upper management and I was told that was their policy and there was nothing that they would do.
