Hello,

I’m writing a potential blog post and I want to check a fact first.

We currently have the “Original 14” resorts. Anyone who purchases a resale contact is entitled to stay at any of those properties.

What happens when those contracts start to expire In 2042, but I have a resort that expires later?

For example, I have a BLT contract that expires in 2060, but Vero Beach contracts end in 2042. Assuming Disney keeps Vero Beach open in some capacity, would I be allowed to book there in... 2044 ?
Or is that resort no longer part of the ”Original 14” DVC structure?

Thanks.

No, once the resort “expires” there no longer are part of DVC and the grounds and buildings revert to Disney. After 2042, you would be only able to book at 9 resorts since OKW will have a end date of 2057 since the extension. That is my understanding, but how it plays out is a different story.

That's a great point. I didn't even think about how we will lose those resorts to book at after 2042.

Not quite. Riviera resale contracts are on the resale market (albeit few and far between at this point) These can only stay at DRR resort if purchased resale. Otherwise, you are correct.
(Of course the 11 month and 7 month rules apply accordingly) Maybe you meant if the resale contract is purchased at one of the L14(which is a yes), but I just wanted to be clear.

No, they are no longer under the DVC Umbrella, the land lease reverts them to Disney's domain.

The expiration date is Jan 31, 2042. So you only get one month in 2042.
