We own 200 points at Saratoga Springs. We are considering buying a small number of resale points at another resort. If we purchase at a different resort, do we then have to pay dues at both Saratoga and the new purchase or our existing dues all we pay. I had a difficult time finding the answer to that.

Also, if we purchase a small number of points at a resort where we want the 11 month booking window, how would it work, booking 11 months out, if the number of points in that contract don't cover the stay? Do we have to borrow points from our Saratoga contract? Would those points in Saratoga be eligible to book at this other resort, 11 months out?

Thank you all.

Dues are required for each resort. We own at Aulani and Copper Creek and pay dues for both.

You cannot borrow points from another contract from a different resort for home booking advantage. If I want to book at Copper Creek 11 months out but don’t have enough points, I cannot borrow from our Aulani contact to complete the reservation.

Hope this helps.

You pay dues on the total number of points at the rate set each year for each resort you own at. You will not keep your same dues if you add on. The dues are the biggest expense of owning DVC not the initial purchase price, they come every year. If you only paid dues on your initial amount of points you purchased everyone would buy a small 50 point contract and add on points like crazy.
You can only use the points for the resort you own at in the 11-7 month window they will not be able to be combined until the 7 month booking window if you own at two different resorts. If you have add on more Saratoga points, even though they are separate contracts they will all work together at the 11 month window. If you wanted a small AKV contract and didn’t have enough at the 11 month window you could use banking an borrowing to get what you want and only use those points for stays there. We do this with our VGC points as we only go there every 2-3 years vs WDW we go every few months.

Dues are based on the points. You pay dues for each point you own.

The home-resort booking timeframe is also tied to the specific points, not to your account. You can only use points from one resort at that resort during the 11-month period.
