DVC Discounts?

We are considering a 2 BR at BLT for our trip in November. I think we prefer to rent outright through Disney for the convenience factor. If we were to rent points, we would not be able to cancel or reschedule if there was an emergency... which makes us VERY uneasy. I'm not sure though if discounts are available for the DVC units through Disney? If there is, say, a Fall Sale, would the DVC units be included in the sale?

They can be, but all monorail 1-2BRs have been left out of this year's bouncebacks already. Disney only have about 2% of the units at BLT to rent for cash, with some recaptured through alternate DVC point use, so they don't have a lot of them to fill in the first place.

If you are looking at Thanksgiving BLT is pretty much sold out for DVC owners so direct is the way to go

Well we'd be checking in After Thanksgiving on that Saturday. In the past, the crowds have cleared out by then.

It sounds like my mom is pretty set on Contemporary... so if we can't get a 2 BR Villa, then we'll probably just look for 2 connecting rooms.

DVC busy seasons aren't the same as the park busy seasons. Thanksgiving weekend is just the beginning of DVC's busiest season, villas book up the minute the 11-month window opens for the entire month of December. To get the date range you're looking for, you would have had to have a member booking for you about a month ago.

It's also a time period Disney itself is unlikely to have checked inventory beyond their 2% out to book. Disney reclaim rooms to create high occupancy. The first week of December is the highest demand week for DVC all year, and a lower demand week for resort bookings.

So there's unlikely to be much inventory, and thus not much need to discount it.

The sooner that you lock in your reservation, the better your chances of success will be. That's a very busy time for DVC bookings. Right now, only BLT owners can book at BLT for those dates. Once booking for those dates opens up for members who own at other resorts (April 25), there's a big likelihood that you will be boxed out. That's assuming that BLT owners haven't already booked those units by then.

Well I put out feelers all over the place. We will keep our fingers crossed and have a backup plan (or 3 or 4). We're far enough out that we can be a little flexible.
