I quickly bought 2 APs on Dec. 31 (before the price increase) from the DVC website. We will not be going until April, so I chose to just pick them up at Guest Relations when we get there. I just realized that our DDE cards will be expired by then so we will need to get those also. I don't want to make another stop for temporary DDE cards. Is there a way to get my APs and DDE cards mailed to me now, with both of them being effective in April? I guess I should know how this works, but I sure don't.

We have annual passes and Disney Dining Experience. I have only purchased annual passes at the parks using the DVC discount so I can't say how buying one from DVC on line works. At the parks, I don't believe you can buy an annual pass that starts at some future date. So make sure your annual pass isn't running already. As for the DDE card, I think you just renew it as it expires. It takes so long for the cards to be processed, I'd be tempted to just keep it running rather than have a gap. the amount of money you might save may not be worth the hassle. Hope this helps and isn't confusing!!

I haven't bought a DDE card before, but have decided to do so before my Feb. trip. If I don't want the card to take effect until Feb. 1, when do I order it? Also, is it true that it wouldn't expire until the END of Feb. next year?

(Hope you don't mind me horning in on your thread a little. Seems like both of you are well acquainted with the DDE card, and I'm not! Thanks so much for any help you can give. :) )

Travelbug, I'd order it pronto. It's not that expensive and pays for itself in a nanosecond so i wouldn't worry about having it a couple of weeks or even a month early. Now an annual pass, that's another matter!! I don't want them to start until about 15 seconds before I go through the park entrance. Good luck

Jean - You need a voucher or actual pass in hand to order the DDE card. Since you elected the will-call option, you'll have to wait until you pick up your actual AP. Then you can call the DDE office to order the card.

Unfortunately, there's no way to avoid the trip to EPCOT's Guest Services to pick up the temp DDE card if you want to utilize the program for your April trip. Kind of makes you want to give the DVC Dining Plan another look, doesn't it?

Best wishes -

You can order it now. The cards that are ordered after the "switchover" are effective beginning the first of the following month. DDE usually "switches over" around the 7th of the month. TOb e sure, ask the CM when the card will be effective - the CM I had was more than happy to tell me. It takes 3 weeks to get the card (but it often gets there sooner - mine took about two weeks.

Bottom line: If you order now, your card will be good 2/1/2006 - 2/28/2007.

Best wishes -

you will recieve AP voucher in a few weeks, on the back of the voucher there is a code number that the person at DDE office will accept and process the DDE card purchase over the phone, i think our DDE card came in about 4 weeks after purchase. sorry did not notice you did will call

I think I will call with my confirmation number and see if I can get the vouchers mailed to me now rather than go to will call.
I must be losing it. I just went on the passholder webpage and the rules are different (where have I been??) It says the card is $60 and if you want a card for your spouse it is an additional $25. When did this all happen??? Our current ones (good until March 31) cost $50 for both, with the discount. Or was there a DVC discount for the DDE card last year that is no longer available? I cannot keep track of squat anymore! :crazy2:

Also, if my cards expire on March 31, do I have to wait until March 1 to be within 30 days so I can renew? Then I have to worry about the cards getting here before we leave on Apr. 3. Ugh.

The price went up effective the start of this year. The other change is that they are now charging for a second card which used to be free.

Not sure how DDE renewals work. Just guessing here but if you renewed in mid to late February, your new card should be good through March 31, 2007. If your trip is April 3, that would give you just over 6 weeks for the card to arrive which should be enough time?
