The manager at the Disney store in Las Vegas just told me that very soon there will be no more discounts for the DVC. I futher asked if she ment the DC, but she said definitly the DVC.

Let's all hope she was mistaken

Maybe they'll figure out a way for the Disney Stores to charge DVC members 10% more than they charge the general public. After all, DVC members are such loyal Disney customers that they'll pay anything, right?

LOL -- there's a sad bit of truth to that, I think! ;) Fortunately, we don't buy too much at the Disney Stores (tho' we did manage to spend over $100 last weekend during the sale), but I still hate that we're losing all the discounts. :(

I wouldn't believe this until we actually hear it from DVC. At most of the Disney Stores they don't seem to know at all what's what with the discounts and are most likely confusing DVC with Disney Club even if they say they aren't. I had one Disney Store CM make me show her that my dh was with me when I went to use our DVC discount since our member cards have his name on them.....she insisted that he had to be there...but I've used the card many times previously and since to get my discount without his presence. There aparently isn't enough training done on handling these or some of the cm's are just clueless even after being trained. Unfortunately that seems to happen quite often everywhere these days.

If so I'll miss the discount, but the only thing I have been buying at the DS are antenna toppers lately. What's that save me, 30 cents?

I'm always surprised by the DS CMs who don't have a clue. So many of them think DVC is the same as the DC. I don't think this was any exception.

Thank you for the voice of reason here. It amazes me that someone posts something totally innocent (like thinking out loud or repeating a comment) and instantly it becomes a "sky is falling" issue and many nasty and negative comments are made.
I appreciate a logical common sense approach to things.
Why is it that when a CM says something that would be considered a positive we all question it, but, when it is something that could be considered negative many of us jump on it like it was gospel and have hissy fits before it is fact? Makes me nuts!!!

When the manager at my local store and I were talking about the demise of the DC, she said to me "well at least your buying DVC, so you'll still get the 10% off". Let's hope she was right.

Until DS decides to improve the merchandise they sell, I won't miss the discount, DC,DVC or otherwise. The best items like CD's, DVD's and videos are generally cheaper elsewhere without any discount and the collectables have been excluded for awhile now.

I completely agree, there is nothing at the "Pooh Store".

absolutely amazing at all the crying I read from some posters on these boards. our experience with ds merchandise is the clothing in fact holds up longer than look-a-like product and has a definate style advantage as well. it is a given that dvd, cd, vhs and the like will always be cheaper somewhere other than a speciality retailer. let alone disney, geeze! and clerks everywhere, call then cm's if you want, will always be less informed than people who spend this amount of their own time reading special-interest boards like this one.

I have to agree that the DS merchandise has been pretty dismal lately. I wish they would have a few more "nice" adult pieces of clothing! A couple years ago I could buy a leather jacket at TDS, and now all I can find is a pair of pajamas that I wouldn't bother to buy!

Wow DisneyBill......I don't think you're displaying the "proper Disney attitude" in your remarks. Also, if you're going to rip into other the people you should at least have the curtesy to proof-read for grammar and spelling.
