We are taking a family trip to WDW over Thanksgiving Break. My two DSs love Kimonos and want to eat there the first night. My DH hates sushi, so we are reserving Trattoria al Forno for just the two of us. I'm wondering if there is a way for my DSs and their GFs to get the 20% DVC discount. Neither name is on the DVC membership card. Is the only way to get the discount for me to be seated with them and order a sushi roll? I would actually love one for an appetizer (I know, weird with Italian as my main meal). Then could I ask for the bill, pay, and leave while they finish? Not trying to be deceptive as I said I would love to eat a roll there, but 20% is quite a bit when there are four adults eating so would love some ideas. Last time we did this we had a 20% coupon from a website, but no such luck this time.

If you are physically there to pay the bill, I can't imagine they wouldn't apply the discount for you. Your direct benefits extend to those in your immediate family that reside with you.

At a minimum, I think you'll need to sit down with them at the beginning. Then you can just tell the server you won't be having anything, just spending time with your family. No one will object to that. As the first dishes start being delivered, I would tell the server you're treating but have to run off -- and ask for the bill. Get the discount, pay with your credit card, and be on your way! You can handle your DSs reimbursing you (if applicable) later.

Just curious. Where do you see that the DVC discount is only for your immediate family living with you? Both of my DSs live with us still, but their GFs do not. When I download the perks, I see nothing in the fine print. Also how would it even be determined at a place like Kimonos where we would order lots of different sushi rolls and share?

I understand you said "at the minimum," but I can tell you I would not be able to enter Kimonos and not eat some sushi! Unlike my DH, I love sushi. I'm totally fine ordering a roll as an appetizer before Trattoria al Forno. :-)

To get the DVC discount, you will have to show your DVC member card and most likely your ID. This perk doesn’t roll down to your immediate family unless they also have DVC member cards.

You (or someone with a DVC member card) would need to physically be there to pay for the discount.

Yes, I get that. That’s why I planned on going with them (at least for a few minutes). What I’m wondering is if everyone in our party will get the discount. I’ve heard it’s for the member and 3 guests, so since there’s 6 of us, my DH and I will show both of our cards. But I can’t find where’s this is written.

I also had a question about what stewart715 said. Do only immediate family members that live with me get the discount? If so where is this written?

At the bottom of the dining discount page in the fine print it states the member + 3 guests.

Ok thanks. That sounds like it can be any guests, not just those living with you. So we should be good with our non-relatives that are joining us. I'll just plan on my DH and I both going in and ordering a roll to share (except I'll eat it all! :rolleyes1). Then I'll ask for the bill, my DH and I will both show our cards, and we will hopefully get the discount and pay before heading over to our ADR at Trattoria.
