Anyone sign up for the DVC Disney Institute Class featured in September's Vacation Magic?

We're doing the Sept 14th class - can't wait!!!

We have no idea what to expect - has anyone ever done any of these classes before?

DH and I would love to do the class/tour and we're going to be there in October for one of the dates....however, we're taking friends with us and they're not really into doing "extra" stuff like tours and things, so we sort of can't just leave them for several hours. But, it does sound very interesting.....oh well, maybe they'll offer something similar again sometime.

I cannot find this. What page is it on? I would be interested in this too...!!!

Thanks

We have never done this tour, but we have done one in MK, one in Epcot, Behind the Steam Trains, and the Christmas tour. We enjoyed all of them.
I am thinking of signing up for this one, but I can't decide.

Oh, Donna... don't get caught up in feeling like you have to keep your guests occupied. They can certainly find something to do on their own. Probably would like some time to their own! If you want to do it, and it is available, then do it. I think combined vacations suffer when everyone tries to do everything together (STRESS!). Have fun on your trip. :thumbsup2

Agreed. You certainly can leave your guests alone for several hours. You'll probably find them grateful for a chance to go off on their own for a little while, and you'll enjoy the break as well. Our family has traveled with others to WDW and we would never dream of doing everything together all day.

The tour is very similar to a portion of the "Backstage Magic" tour. It is very informative and visits the horticultural facility, the laundry facility (very impressive) and the Central Shops - where park items are maintained (like themed trash cans, Carousel horses are repainted, ride vehicles are tuned up and even parade components are fabricated).

A link was provided to the information in the latest e-mail version of Vacation Magic. http://www.register123.com/event/profile/form/index.cfm?PKformID=0x248597e91f

We attended several of the offerings from DI and thoroughly enjoyed each one. We were able to attend a cooking class, a brodacasting class, a Container Gardening" course, a computer animation class and an interactive "As Walt Would Have Told It" highlighting the process of story development for the Disney cartoons. Each one was taught by very knowledgeable professionals with the typical Disney flair. Sadly, few of these courses are offered any more. The Disney Institute does still provide some great corporate training programs with emphasis on Disney culture and the concepts of customer service as embraced within the Disney system. They have tailored the courses to specific industries.

If you even have opportunity to attend any of these special programs, I'd highly recommend the experience.

I just signed up for October 19th. I've seen a couple of the things listed, but haven't been to the horticultural area or to the laundry. And can always use more backstage magic anytime.
