So we did the deluxe dining plan (2 adults, 1 under 2) and it worked perfectly. We did a character breakfast every morning and a 2 ticket dinner every night. We bought a bottle of wine with dinner, used our snack credits for water and popcorn and skipped lunch most days. I felt like it was a great deal. We ate very well (although we felt like we had to order desserts and I had to be rolled home a few nights).

As DVC members now (or soon) my wife suggested the tables in wonderland (sorry if I got the name wrong) as an alternative. I figure that with a kitchen and since it will be our second trip we will skip some character breakfasts and eat in room. To me this means we will just use 1 of our 3 points for lunch. Has anyone used boh of these plans together? I figure 25% off wine alone should warrant buying both packages. Is the meal plan redundant?

If you are a DVC member and not an annual passholder, the membership fee for TIW is $100 for a 13-month membership. You would need to spend $500 on eligible food or beverages in the next 13 months in order to break even on the membership. If you are going to spend more than that, it is worth doing. If you are not, it probably isn't.

TIW is 20% off, not 25%.
