DVC Dining options Question

How does the DDP work with DVC? On another thread I posted here not too long ago, someone had mentioned that if DH and I rent points we don't need to get the DDP for our entire stay.

We are shooting for a 10 night/11 day stay in October 2008. We would be purchasing a 7 day PH at our local Disney Store and would prefer to have the DDP just for those days. Since the one bedroom villas have a kitchen, we would use that for our 2 scheduled down time days and our last day.

Is this possible to do? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The only difference between DVC and CRO reservations with the DDP is that there is no requirement to pre-purchase a park ticket from Disney.

The DDP must be for the entire length of the reservation for all occupants of the villa.

The DVC owner you rent from will add the DDP to your reservation through Member Services, you will pay for it when you check-in at the resort.

The only way to not have the DDP for the entire length of stay would be to make two separate reservations, ideally at two different resorts, or for two different room sizes, otherwise the reservations will be linked and considered one reservation for DDP purposes. It would require you to check-out and then check-in for your new room/resort and would require you to move during your stay.

I agree with Chuck, however the DDP is cheap and truly is not worth you cooking for 2 days.

Also I go down every year for 10 days and never plan a rest day, if you take your time and relax everyday................everyday is a rest day!

I have 4 children + an exchange student and my DH and I relax daily!!

There are big changes in the DDP for 2008. Make sure the plan still meets your needs before signing up for it.

Has there been any information released as to how the new 2008 dining plan will affect DVC? I have rented points for Jan. 5-11 and was planning on the DDP. Have they posted new pricing tiers that will correspond with the basic dining vs. deluxe? What about effective start date, etc? Thanks for any info that you have!

All I know is about the basic. They are only doing an entree and dessert, no apetizers. And Tip is no longer included. The only way it would be worth it to us is if we only ate a Buffetts. Also we have an 11 year old who barely eats yet costs the same as an adult. As much as we have loved it in the past we are no loger going to do it. I fugured out with restaurant menus what we would spend without it and we will save about $150 paying OOP.

We're going to have my mom come along this time, so the DDP would definately benefit us. She hasn't been down since 1993. I was there with my parents and brother back then, and we were limited by our funds as to where we could eat. The DDP opens all of that up to us and we don't have to worry if we don't have the money since it would all be paid for once we get down there.

The only down side this year is that we have to make sure we have the money for the tip since it's no longer included . But Allearsnet comes in handy for that since they have the menus and the prices up on their web site.

I'm ok with the no appetizers not being there for the Basic DDP anyway (DH is dissapointed though). It was just too much food for all of us with the appetizer, meal and dessert.

The basic and deluxe plans as well as the wine add on are available for DVC at the same price as they are for anyone else. The member from who you are renting will need to add any DDP you choose to the reservation and then you will pay at check in.
