DVc December help

hoping a current member can help me! I am in the process of closing on a dvc resale (already signed contracts waiting on deed). Hoping to possibly use points for a vacation this year. Can anyone check availability on any dates Dec 2-9? Realize this is the hardest time to go but want to see if it makes sense to just book a cash room for this year instead. Willing to stay anywhere and also do split stays!

Board rules prevent us looking up availability. But that is the busiest time for DVC and I would be doubt any days are open at this late date.

Let's just say that I have been checking very recently. I have been making my own reservations. There was some availability of SSR, and maybe a bit more, up until a couple of weeks ago, but by this point there literally is NOTHING available for more than 1 day at ANY resort location or room type, during that period, INCLUDING at SSR. You might possibly be able to string a few stays of one day each at a FEW resorts, but even that would be unlikely. There is NOTHING.

Can you waitlist multiple sequential days? Wasn't the former rule that you could only have 2 waitlist requests at a time? Is that different now? I haven't tried it recently.

You are still limited to two waitlists per contract (and you have to use the points from that contract to book). You can waitlist an entire week (probably not a good choice) or two nights or one night or three nights. And the other for one night or two night or three nights. You are just limited to two,

Even if we saw a day here or there open by the time you had access to your points the villa would be long gone.
I've been trying for 1 night - 12/8 in a 2 br. to add on to my Dec. DVC stay for literally months - it's wait listed and I search every day, and there's been nothing for that week - maybe a day that lasts for a nano second and is gone.
Best to book a room only for cash and then once your points come through start searching and piecing together what you can w/ DVC & cancel the room only if you are successful.
By piecing together I mean set up 2 wait lists of one or 2 days only. If those fill then adjust your wait list. Also search several times a day on the DVC member site & if you get something via the site adjust your wait lists to match whatever resort you got. With your 7 night stay be open to a 3/4 or even 2/2/3 type split stay. Focus on the bigger resorts like SSR, OKW or AKV Kidani because there’s more possible cancellations based on numbers alone.
Good luck, nothing like the thrill of the hunt & I managed to piece together an add on 3 night stay at VGF in Dec. (not that first week, tho’) a couple of years ago by stalking the site.

Hopefully you booked a cash room because like others have said there will be little to nothing available. Once you get your contract and access to the website if you have points available then you can set up a waitlist or try and book whatever you can find. Keep that cash reservation because there is no guarantee that a waitlist will come through.

I have been on waitlist since Feb of this year for 12/2 through 12/7 @ BWV, so far nothing and I'm afraid that is the way it's going to stay. This will be the first time that I wasn't successful with a waitlist request. I'm sure the fact that it is the early part of Dec which is one of the most popular times of year for DVC is the reason for my lack of success so far...I still have my fingers crossed but I'm not holding my breath...
