Dvc/dcl/abd Help!

Okay, I apologize in advance because I KNOW this question has probably been asked a gazillion times, but I can't find a sticky about it and I'm not even sure I'm in the right area to get this information!

Can someone tell me or point me towards a thread about using DVC points for DCL or ABD? I see on the DVC website that it can be done, but, is there somewhere to get details/point requirements?

On the member site they have point charts for DCL and ABD. There are so many choices that it is tough to try to give you all the information in a typed response. When you get on the member site look on the right and choose View Vacation Point Charts. For DCL points start around 50 per person for a cat. 11 on a 3-day and go up to over 700 per person in a cat. 4 for a Med or Alaska cruise. ABD points range anywhere from 400 to over 800 per person. Example: Viva Italia is 614 points per person. This has really gone up over the last two years. We did the Viva Italia fall of 2008 and it was just under 500 points per person then.

Thanks Eva and Carol! I guess I have to already be a member to access those point charts. I'm not seeing the link on the right hand side! Unfortunately, my husband and I are still in the "considering phase" of DVC membership!

In my business ABD means "all but dissertation." I could have helped you with that but for the other ABD I'd suggest following the advice of others who have written.

Sorry, yes you do have to be a memeber for that site. You may have to contact DVC directly and ask for copies of the charts. I think that they do not like posting those on open sites becuase they change every year. So don't buy based on the current number of points for exchanges. ABD has gone up anywhere from 15-40% in just two years. DCL has increased quite a bit too. About 5 or 6 years ago we booked a cat. 6 on a 7-night in May for only 176 points per person. For 2011 the same cruise in the same catagory is 244 points per person.
