Hello:

I have a question about the tactical mechanics of managing DVC contracts from Disney and from Resale. We currently have two DVC contracts at SSR purchased directly from Disney under one membership number. They are both a February use year. These have been very easy to manage online when making reservations. If I am making a reservation and one of the contracts runs out of available points, I simply draw the remaining points from the other SSR contract to complete the reservation. Easy Peasy.

These SSR contracts are owned by my wife and I but we have our three boys on the membership listed as Associate Members. They do nothing with the points and I have no idea what it means that they are Associate Members.

If my wife and I purchase a DVC contract through resale at Copper Creek and we get the same February use year:

Will this resale contract be listed under our existing membership number?

Will this resale contract be visible on our existing dashboard?

When we go to make a reservation within the 7 month planning window at one of the original 14 resorts, will we be able to easily draw points from both a SSR and CCV contract to complete the reservation?

I do not want to get into a messy situation where we cannot easily book a reservation.

Thoughts?

It will work the same way. You will be able to use all 3 contracts at the 7 month mark assuming a) you are not trying to book at a restricted resort (the resale points will not work there) and b) the contracts are titled the same way (and therefore the same membership)

To add on to what @JackosinDIS stated the new resale contract would need to be titled in the same way as before with you and your wife but you will need to find out if it is Joint Survivorship or something else.

Your boys are not on the contract so to make things seemless don't add them when making an offer.

Associated members ironically are to help manage booking reservations and banking points. The do not have access to pay dues or if you choose to finance anything to do with a loan.
They also do not have any benefits like discounts or attending Moonlight Magic without you for example.

If you are Membership Extra eligible you can add your sons to the titles and then they would become blue card members as well if they are over 18 if you wished.
If you do add them to the title either have it completed before buying a resale contract and have the boys info for the resale agent or wait until you close and just have all 3 titles changed at the same time.
