I just joined DVC yesterday, & I am waiting on my member #. We were able to get the points from 2005, so I was thinking with all the points I will have at the end of the year maybe we should do the DC. The question is, do we get a special deal or is the point chart in the book they sent me correct? Are there special trips that will take less points?

I believe that there is a "Member Cruise" every October that requires less points. Can someone else confirm?

There is a Member Cruise this October. They are not every year and they are not always in the same time frame.

2003 was in February

2005 was in September

2006 will be in October

They are not less points than regular DCL cruises - in fact they are a few more points but those of us who have done them feel they are worth it.

To the OP yes there are point charts for all the Disney cruises. They are up on the website which you can get to once you have your pin.

Some people think the cruises are not worth the points and that you are better off renting your points and paying cash. We bought our DVC to vacation and have used them for a number of cruises. How you use your DVC is up to you!

Thanks guys for the input. I am thinking about the cruise, but all I have to use for this year is 5oo pt's, so I do not know if I want to get rid of all my points until next year.

We plan on doing a 4 night cruise on July 8, 2007. Based upon the current point charts Disney is giving us a value of $7.5 per point so we rented our points and will pay cash for the cruise. Just something to think about.

We had bought a resale that had banked points which we used for a 3 night cruise. It was great, it didn't seem expensive to us and we were satisfied.
