I notice that a lot of people rent cribs when they stay at any of the Disney resorts. I know that PnP's are provided, but we prefer a crib.

Does anyone have an experience with the cribs at the resorts or am I better off renting one from ABBF?

We requested a crib when we were there in January. We stayed at BLT and had a 2 bedroom. The crib that WDW provides is a travel sized one, not very big at all, and still there was barely any room for it in the master bedroom. I'm not sure what size you can rent from ABBF, but that is something to consider.

That being said, a request at WDW is just a request. We almost didn't get one bc BLT was out, but they did managed to get one from another resort. (Thank goodness!), if you absolutely need one, I would rent from an outside rental place.

Whichever you decide remember to take your own crib sheet, I think it can help a LO that is out of their element settle in a little bit more if it smells like home.

We requested a crib when we took our Daughter(14 months old at the time) to BCV in 2009. I don't know if all DVC resorts have cribs or just those attached to a Hotel. It was nic, but we ended up using the Pack & Play and had the crib picked up. We were in a 1BR, we kept it by our bed and found out that it worked well.

We always rent from Orlando Crib Rentals. Unlike ABBF, they deliver and set up for you (only takes a few mins). Very nice, clean, without drop sides, fresh linens (and extra crib sheet included).

DS was born in 2005, so you can imagine how long ago it was that we used and rented cribs at WDW. However, since DS refused to sleep in a PNP, and we all wanted a good night's sleep on vacation, a crib was a must. We had many different experiences with cribs at DVC. Some resorts had them readily available, and nice ones too, and others had really small ones, and again some were iffy. I seem to remember sometime around that time period when I would call and request a crib, I was told that Disney was doing away with them at DVC. I don't know if that ever actually happened, but we weren't risking it and decided to rent from ABBF. The other company sounds nice too, but we had great experiences and were very happy to be reassured we would get exactly what we wanted.

what resort are you staying in? OKW has a completely separate laundry room and we used to put the pack n play (they provided) in the laundry room!!!! :rotfl: I know I'm not the only one (I got the idea here on the disboards) so I dont feel bad saying it!

our boys are now 3 and 6 and the pack n play provided by disney made do just fine when they were little

When DS was 5 months he slept in the PnP in the closet of a VWL 2 bedroom.

We always just used the PnP with no issues.

DVC only offers the pack and plays for those age 2 and under. Anyone who does request a regular crib and receives one is getting a bonus as they are definitely not to be "available" to DVC reservations.

That is why many choose to rent a crib from an outside vendor, as they know they definitely will need one. :)

We had a crib in September and another one on the trip we just got back from yesterday. We were at the BWV in a standard studio. I had to call for a crib when I got there for my son. Unfortunately the studio didn't have a pack n play in it. Since I had to call down I asked for a crib as it was more comfortable for my son and he's now to big for a pack n play honestly. He's very tall for an 18month old! They had no problem bringing one up and had it to us in 10 mins or less. We also bring our own crib and pack n play sheets. It helps feel more at home for them. Just remember the cribs are first come first serve so it's possible the resort will be out when you call.

I am mixed on this as OKW always had them but where first come first serve... never had a problem getting one and MS told me they were avialable when I made my first reservations for OKW.
WL on the hand said they do not have them.....
Other reaorts I have no idea as we are past this stage and on to better things

OP here ...... We are staying at Saratoga. We do not own a PnP, nor do we intend on getting one so honestly I am thinking that he's not going to like sleeping in one.

I am thinking that getting a crib from ABBF is probably the best solution. Thanks for your responses!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: We used the MB at Kidani, it was like having an extra BR it was HUGE

We have stayed in studios at AKV, BLT, BWV and OKW and have had a pack-n-play in the closet of each. We requested a regular crib at the resort last trip but it was pretty small. We also didn't bring a bumper so with it being tiny and not having the bumper, we were afraid he would keep getting his legs caught in between the slats. We ended up using the pack-n-play b/c it was much roomier.

When DD was almost a year old, we called Mousekeeping and had one of the white metal cribs delivered to our room at SSR. It's larger than a pnp, but not quite as large as a full-sized crib you would have at home. When DD was almost 2, we rented a crib from ABBF because she's a busy sleeper and we knew she would need the extra room.

My only issue with ABBF is that they wash their sheets & blanket in detergent that has a VERY strong scent. DD's skin is sensitive to scented products and I have asthma so we couldn't use them. Thankfully we brought our own sheets from home. We tried washing the sheets from ABBF and airing them out on the balcony, but we just could not get the smell out. We rented a toddler bed from them this past trip and I asked for sheets washed in unscented detergent and they were fine, though the waterproof pad was still washed in the heavily scented detergent.
