DVC Christmas Party

Last year was every Thursday in December before Christmas from 3-5 p.m. Don't know if that will be the same this year.

last year it was every Friday starting with the last week in November to the last week in Dec.

We attended one last year on Thursday, December 3rd.

It's easy for us to remember because it was the date of our first checkin as DVC members.

What is this all about? :)

DVD has a Holiday event put on by the marketing department. Character meet and greets, dancing for the kids, beverages and cookies. Guides will be there to schedule sales appointments. It is usually held by the International Gateway outside of Epcot.

How are the details announced? Is it emailed, on my member login page or something I only learn about if I am sent special communication from Disney?

Info will be posted on the member website and here on the DIS. If they are really hungry for sales, there may be a email or special mailing.

When I am there in December I will have family with me. I am I allowed to bring guests?

We went last year and were kind of disappointed. For drinks, it was water or apple cider. If you wanted a soft drink it was $4 a can , didn't ask about the alcoholic beverages. The food was rice krispie treats. They did give out a nice ornament.

So is this really something special for DVC members or is it really more of a sales pitch to try to get you to purchase more points?

We went last year. I do not recall any sales pitches at all. There may have been a table with sales people, but if so, we didn't see it. There was a long line to get in, but after that you could go where you wanted to go within the tent.

I recall a DJ (kids were dancing), pictures with the characters (we got oone iwth Santa Goofy and one with Chip 'n Dale), an area for pins (not a pin-person so don't really know what was happening there, I think they were mostly selling pins), the rice krispie treats, a place to sign up for a drawing for a huge gift basket, and the DVC ornament (one per family) on the way out.

Nice place to meet fellow DVC members. I was lucky enough to meet Doc there. :)

last year they had the wrapped rice krispies treats .. I think this was in direct response to the H1N1 which was receiving heavy media attention at the time.

In years past they have had trays of sugar cookies, water and hot cider. I honestly don't recall if hot coffee was every served??

We only attend if we happen to be in Epcot and near the international gateway or staying at BWV's or BCV's.

They usually have a character station where you can have pictures taken.

There was something last year with pins, but I don't remember what the pin was .. someone told us that you had to bring a pin to exchange that there were no pin sales taking place.

There are usually a few raffles for gift baskets.

Only DVC members can attend so there really isn't any high sales pressure going on .. there are DVC sales there and they will talk with you about add ons and anything else you might want to chat about.

The day of the week does change .. in years past we've been on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday .. last year we went on a Friday.
