Will they be having this event this year and if so on what day???

Do we need admission to Epcot or is it outside the entrance gate?

:goodvibes Thanks!

Thanks. ... I think I read it will be on Thursday from 3 to 5 at the International Gateway... Do we have to have tickets into Epcot to attend or is it outside of the entrance?

What is the Christmas mixer at Epcot????

When do they have these Mixers?

This event is typically held on Thursdays in the mid-afternoon (3pm-5pm -ish) and is in an area sectioned off right outside the International Gateway at EPCOT--just a few steps from the BCV.

The year we went (2005) they had cider and hot chocolate, cookies, characters (Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Reindeer, Chip and Dale) and such. They also have activity tables for the kids and some booths.

They also give you a little gift as you enter (typically a Christmas ornimate).

It's pretty fun. If you can fit it in, it's neat to do. Our kids were napping that year and didn't get to go, but DH and I walked around for about 20 minutes.

Here are some pictures from 2005:

Typically, it's only been in December and that's what current rumor has it. Someone posted earlier this week that MS said it was Thursdays in December. I don't think a time was mentioned, but I'd be surprised if they didn't have it from 3-5 because it's been that way from the beginning.

Last year it was held in tent like pavillion next to the IG - We did show our blue member cards to get in but did not need park admission as it is outside the gate. The had some DVC merchandise for sale and gave away a basket of goodies to one lucky member. We enjoyed the cookies and cider but did not join in the line dancing. Those who did seemed to be having a very good time. They did pass out ornaments as you left.

If you're familiar with the Epcot IG area, and if you've been a Disney fan since the 80's, you may recall when there were trams that ran from the Swan/Dolphin hotels to Epcot. At Epcot they stopped at the tram turnaround area which you can still recognize by the circular path. I believe the overhead canapy covers are still there.

That old tram turnaround area is where they've held the mixers every year.

Now THAT'S some interesting trivia! I have always wondered why there were covered benches and such outside of the IG. Now I know. It makes that area make alot more sense now.
