DVC charged an excess of points! Input please!

We just returned from a 3 night stay at AKV using our points.

We should have used 52 points. I got a call from member services advising our room was on the Sunset Savannah and we would be charged less points,44, due to the animals being off the savannah. The reduction would be applied at the time of checkout. OK we will take the reduced points. After we got home I realized looking at the map that we were not on the Sunset savannah and we did have animals, I guess we were moved but not told there was a change. When I got home and checked the website we were charged 72 points!!!! Anyone had this experience? I am planning to call MS first thing in the morning to get the points corrected. Should I expect the reduced points I was told I would be charged due to the original room on Sunset Savannah or be happy to get it fixed to the 52?

This seems to happen a lot when the front desk at a resort tries to change a DVC reservation. It sounds like they were able to give you a real savanna view after all and the points probably got messed up when the front desk changed your reservation back to a true savanna view. MS will be able to fix it for you. Since you ended up on a savanna with animals then I expect they will charge you for what you got, a Savanna View room.

Since you got the view you booked, I'd expect that MS will only charge you the 52 points for the category that you booked.

I think the reason they do not return the points until after check-out is in case you did get a savannah view. I would expect 52 points.

I would expect the original point total if you did indeed have animals.

Are there actually animals on Sunset yet? They were still there in January when we were at AKV.

Talked to MS and they advised there is a glitch in the system under vacation details it is showing more points used than what is actually used, it actually increased 2 points more from last night to this morning. If you look under vacation points and look under the use year it shows the correct points. Their IT department is working to fix the problem.

The points we were charged is correct so I am happy.

We did not see Sunset Savannah so I am not sure if the animals are back, but I don’t believe so from what I have read here.

By the way, we ABSOLUTELY loved our stay the resort was amazing! We are going back in the fall and are debating were to stay AKV or WLV.
