DVC cash discount?

If this was booked through Disney Reservation Center, it probably is the lake view villa. Standard view is pretty limited and goes quickly to members for points. Kind of like Standard via DRC at BWV - those are usually what is preferred/pool/garden view for points.
Interesting. Why wouldn't DRC use the same view categories as DVC? Also, can only get DVC cash discount by calling in, correct?

I can confirm this. We stayed at BWV in June and booked the room from CRO. The reservation said "one bedroom villa, standard view." We had a view of the creepy clown.

I'm a DVC member, but don't own at BWV. I'm assuming that the villa we got was not BWV's "standard view" when using points.

It's probably because the standard view isn't usually available by the time they offer DVC villas for purchase through DRC. They go very quickly and are extremely popular with members.

Yes, you can only get the DVC Cash Discount by calling DVC. It usually is only available for members, not guests. They always had the rule that the member must be staying in the villa.

Correct, DVC standard at BWV is along the front drive, not the pool, unless it is a grossly impeded view because of a tree or bushes.

Was booked through Dvc Member services as a cash rate as I stated above.

Same here. We didn't have any points last month so I booked a bedroom standard view with an AP discount. We had a view of the clown pool.

I just booked a BWV garden/pool view studio for June 16-20, 2017 with a DVC discount. It is $339/night, which is a little more than renting points, but I just feel more comfortable doing it this way in case I have to cancel or change the reservation for some reason. I am going to continue to check with DRC for a better discount…where are the APH discounts posted? I didn't even think of that but I have a gold pass.

DVC is going to give DRC or RCI what they have. By avoiding categories, it gives more flexibility. For RCI that means you get what is given, for example, at AKV that's normally Kidani but can be either Savannah or Standard. For OKW it'll be non HH category. For BWV it'll usually be preferred but not BW view. But by not having the labels attached, it gives them flexibility. Then if DRC labels it standard, there's no implication of view or location, if they labeled it preferred, some would expect something special in terms of view. It'll be interesting what happens with SSR starting in 2017 from a reservation standpoint but even more so for RCI and DRC cash reservations.
