Right now I have DC and DVC cards. Aside from entry into the parks what will an AP give me that these cards wont?

So far I've been poking around the DVC site & the DC site and it looks like DVC comes out on top. Other sites indicate that the AP benefits aren't different from DVC.

The car discount isn't unusual, there seem to be more restaurant discounts under DVC, the Disney Quest discount is bigger, the shopping discounts look the same...what's left? I figure there must be something that would make it worthwhile...

P.S. Entry into the Parks is certainly a big deal but I'm borderline on 7 versus 8 days. If I thought I'd take a spontaneous extra trip that would tip me to an AP over a 7 day. So...if there are additional discounts that you can only get on an AP...that I would use on my next planned trip using DVC points...it would make the difference.

One thing - If you want to take that spur of the moment trip and you are out of points - the resorts often offer an annual pass rate. This rate can be really discounted.

For 2001, AP discounts are:

Mickey Monitor newsletter, mailed quarterly

Passholder exclusive events (as detailed in the monitor - for example, there's a current $20.00 off cirque du solei tickets - limit 2-tickets per AP)

National car rental 10% off

Backstage tour discounts

Family portrait discount 10% off WDW portrait sitting fees.

Special rates seasonally at selected WDW resort hotels (as detailed in the Mickey Monitor)

Dining: All star 10% off, Planet Hollywood 10% off food, 10% off merchandise, Rainforest cafe 10% off lunch, 15% off merchandise, Portobello 10% off lunch, Fulton's 10% off lunch, HoB 20% off prior to 6:00pm, 10% off merchandise

Merchants: 10% off purchase of $25.00 or more at market place - World of Disney, Pooh Corner, Team Mickey, Disney at Home, Disney's Days of Christmas, and DTV (some limitations)

Virgin Megastore $2.00 off CD, DVD, Video, Books above minimum price

Eurospain 10% off

Magnetron complimeentary magnet with $10 purchase

Boats 10% off rental prices at WDW resort marinas

Sammy Duball's water sports at Contemporary, 10% off many activities

Minature golf, 50% off first admission, 15% off for up to 6 additional guests

Tennis 25% off, Grand Floridian

Richard Petty 10% off

GF Spa, 10% off

And finally, unlimited admission into MK, Epcot, MGM and AK.

If you get a PAP, waterparks, Disney Quest, and Pleasure Island admissions are also included.

Hope this helps you compare the AP to the DC and DVC discounts.

Here's a link that may help you compare the various cards/memberships/discounts:

Generally, I have found that the DC discount with National Car Rental is 20%. Ap discount is 10%. To the best of my recollection, DVC does not offer any discount for car rental.
