I am as frustrated as everyone else about how difficult and confusing getting the digital DVC card is right now. No doubt, this was rolled out before it was ready, probably so some manager could meet one of his/her goals for this year. So now we are stuck dealing with their mess.
Our next trip is in February and I wanted to get our DVC cards before we left. I wasn't about to spend hours at guest services while on vacation, so I bit the bullet and worked with member services today.
Two issues to resolve. 1) Get my spouse her own DVC account. This is needed for her to get her digital card. 2) Inquire about ND vs. Y. No discount or Yes, discount. By the by, we are DVC by resale from 2009, so we are blue card holders.
First I tried the chat feature on the DVC site. Looked promising when it said I only had a 20 min wait. Turned in 45min but, ok. Found out the my wife needed a club ID and a one-time activation code. Without the club ID they can not give me her the activation code. Said I had to call member services for both.
Been hearing horror stories about how long people have waited to talk to a member services cast member, so I held my breath and called. Surprisingly, we only waited about 50 mins and we were connected with a very pleasant cast member. We had several issues to be resolved before we got to the DVC cards and she took care of everything. Then it was onto getting my wife her own sign in. No problem. Then she walked my wife through the process of getting her digital DVC card and everything worked fine.
Then I asked her about the ND vs. Y. She indicated that they were aware of the issue since the system can't seem to see a difference between direct buyers, grandfathered resale and current resales. She said they hope to have the issue solved in a couple weeks.
So, all in all, it wasn't too bad an ordeal today. The cast member we worked with was fantastic.
