I am as frustrated as everyone else about how difficult and confusing getting the digital DVC card is right now. No doubt, this was rolled out before it was ready, probably so some manager could meet one of his/her goals for this year. So now we are stuck dealing with their mess.
Our next trip is in February and I wanted to get our DVC cards before we left. I wasn't about to spend hours at guest services while on vacation, so I bit the bullet and worked with member services today.

Two issues to resolve. 1) Get my spouse her own DVC account. This is needed for her to get her digital card. 2) Inquire about ND vs. Y. No discount or Yes, discount. By the by, we are DVC by resale from 2009, so we are blue card holders.

First I tried the chat feature on the DVC site. Looked promising when it said I only had a 20 min wait. Turned in 45min but, ok. Found out the my wife needed a club ID and a one-time activation code. Without the club ID they can not give me her the activation code. Said I had to call member services for both.

Been hearing horror stories about how long people have waited to talk to a member services cast member, so I held my breath and called. Surprisingly, we only waited about 50 mins and we were connected with a very pleasant cast member. We had several issues to be resolved before we got to the DVC cards and she took care of everything. Then it was onto getting my wife her own sign in. No problem. Then she walked my wife through the process of getting her digital DVC card and everything worked fine.

Then I asked her about the ND vs. Y. She indicated that they were aware of the issue since the system can't seem to see a difference between direct buyers, grandfathered resale and current resales. She said they hope to have the issue solved in a couple weeks.

So, all in all, it wasn't too bad an ordeal today. The cast member we worked with was fantastic.

I'm very glad things worked out for you and hope all goes well for your February vacation.

That said, it really bothers me that we have to wait so long for help from Member Services. Nearly all of our issues are the result of the horrible website performance. We suffer because of their incompetence. DVCMC leadership has really let us down.

FWIW, not a single cast member I interacted with last week was aware of the shift to MDE status, or equipped to check that. They all wanted to see a physical card, or a screenshot of my digital card, to validate discounts. Whee!

And once again, its amazing how different things are right now...which many did say would happen. Let's hope we get some level of consistency soon!!!

I used my physical card last week for all my transactions except for 1 cast member was insistent on me showing her my digital card. This is when I found out that my digital card is also showing ND instead of Y. She questioned whether I was the actual owner even though I had already show her my ID & physical card. A few days later I spoke with a cast member in the DVC Lounge & she said it is an issue they are aware of and working on.

This past Sunday, we checked into Kidani and were buying something in the store. The people in front of us showed their blue card, and the CM told them that starting next month they’d need to use the MagicMobile in the wallet. They didn’t talk about it very long, but I gathered that the couple was unaware of the change. Throughout this visit we’ve simply pulled up the MM page when getting discounts, without waiting to be asked, and the CMs seem to be at least vaguely aware….

We’re here currently and no one has asked to see the MagicMobile on our phones. They’ve accepted our blue card, but we’ve been asked to show ID for most all purchases. If I had to guess, they aren’t going to fix it by next month. You’d think they’d at least start asking to to see MM for testing purposes.

I was at Disney this last weekend and used both my blue card and the Magic mobile card with no issues at all. Sometimes I feel that using the digital card was easier since my phone was much easier to get to than the wallet in my backpack.

Same here! Even the CM at the DVC member's lounge just took a brief look at my card today. No one's commented or probably even noticed a date on it.

I assume the CMs at the lounge already know by now to accept the Expired/Digital cards until the end of the month and don't feel like dealing with a monologue on how to get the digital one started.

Yeesh, hopefully they are trained up on it by next month because we are going Feb 9th but never got a blue card. I will print the temp one just in case I guess as a backup in case they someone doesn't like the MDE.

I had waiters at restaurants who didn’t even care if I showed my card they just applied the discount. One waitress was surprised I showed her a digital version (brown derby). It’s definitely a hit or miss on what cast members do in regards to the DVC discount.
