If someone has a moment to review, I'd like to be sure we understand some of the Guest Name Change / Cancellation / Holding points rules.

1) Assuming we cancel a reservation less than 31 days in advance of arrival - the points go into Holding. Then those Holding points can Only be used for reservations made within 60 days of arrival (in essence, reducing a 7 or 11 month priority booking window, to 60 days or less before arrival). Correct?

2) Holding Points can no longer be banked, regardless of your banking window, and expire at the end of the Use Year of that specific trip. Correct?

3) Holding Points can be Transferred to another member (including One-Time-Use points, but excluding any Banked or Borrowed points) - although they keep the same 60 day bookings restriction. Correct?

4) What is the latest you can change the Main Guest (or add/subtract names or number of guests) on a Reservation?

Thanks for any clarifications! Tried to research and saw conflicting comments for some of this...

You can modify non-lead guests online at will, I've done it the day before. I don't think you can do it the day of, but maybe if you call?

The lead guest has to be changed by MS. Some can do it on chat/phone instantly, but most have to "submit" it so it can take days. On a tight deadline, I'd just keep calling until I got someone who could do it instantly.

All correct about points gonng into holding.

AFAIK, you can not transfer OTU points as they are not your own points. In essence, those were transferred into your account and therefore can’t go to someone else.

But, if you do transfer holding points they keep that status.

Now, if you do have another trip booked in the same UY as the canceled trip, you can modify it at the 60 day mark and it will pick up the holding points, snd free up others..unless they are for a different resort and the trip was booked during home resort period.

You can change the guests at any time.

From above -- I am confused by this - specifically what you mean by unless they are for a different resort part -- could you explain?

Newbie here and I am about to cancel one night of a reservation for next week and points are going into holding. I have another reservation at my home resort in November that I want to change to another resort that I may be able to use the points for - so I am seeking clarification ...

If someone owns more than one resort, you can’t replace points used during the home resort booking period…7 to 11 months…for one resort with points from a different resort, even if they are in holding.

I have both RIV and SSR points in my Aug UY. If I book RIV at 11 months, then I can’t use any SSR points to replace those nights.

So, if I end up with SSR holding points, I can’t do the modify and replace feature into the RIV reservation unless there are still nights available because the RIV contract will be locked and must be used.

However, if I had RIV holding points, then I could modify the RIV trip and not change anything and it would use up those points and free up my regular RIV points.
