How cool would it be to have a Dvc blog like the disney parks blog. I know the dvc member site has news but a blog with more frequent posts like pictures, recipes news and history would be that much better.

Count me in for this idea!

Agree- i'd read regularly. With dvc, somehow the last place i go for news is dvc's own website. I'd also love a dvc podcast

A blog would be great. Just not sure how much content they could really post. Even a post every few days may be a bit much. There's only so much to say!

I also like the idea, maybe sections for new DVC members to ask questions of vets to share ideas/strategies, etc.

I would think so. Not everyone has Facebook. Plus whoever is the editor could share the posts via that page as the do the parks blog

Since access to Facebook is the same as access to a blog, internet connection is all that is needed; and Facebook is already established and well liked, I don't imagine they would see the need for a blog that would essentially be the same thing.

I can't see that happening. They do post items on the Disney Parks Blog which are of interest to DVC owners. Off the top of my head, they've done stories on the Vero sea turtles, new resort merchandise and extensive coverage of Aulani.

All of the things listed come at a cost. Whether it's research, photographers, information gathered from (highly-compensated) veteran Imagineers, etc. the stories are costly to research and publish.

Disney will grab at the low hanging fruit. They'll structure items to have as broad appeal as possible and post them to the Parks Blog for all to see. Why limit your audience to a few hundred thousand DVC owners when it can be published for millions to see?

As for news, most information is so highly filtered by Disney PR and legal that there isn't a whole left they are willing to report. The bits you read are essentially written by Public Relations staffers...not journalists or investigative reporters.

Isn't that pretty much what forums like this are for?

Again when it's official, the content is so highly filtered that it's virtually useless. Even the Parks Blog will delete reader comments at will.

If Disney did host an official member Q&A, the questions they chose to answer would be the most bland and colorless topics imaginable.

I never said it was happening, I really just said it would be cool to see! Also, I am very familiar with the company and have known many who post on the parks blog. I really enjoy the posts they put up. Plus it is official. I love the useful posts like recipes and history.
