DVC Beds…. Why?

Personally, my view on DVC is the bigger complaint is the living rooms than the bedrooms.... The living rooms are way too small, no way for a family to hang out/decompress in most of the villas....

Clearly market research has shown that more DVC buyers are parks warriors than I am... they're just looking for places to put people on a bed...

It's absolutely true. What two bedroom unit can actually house everyone it sleeps comfortably in a common area? Old Key West would be the largest and you still only have five (or seven if you squeeze) true spaces to sit. You need a GV for that.

3 on the couch, 2 on the loveseat, 1 on the fold out chair and 4 around the dining table is 10 seats, plus 4 on the larger patio/balcony. 2 more if you move the chairs in from the 2nd bedroom.

Most of the dining rooms/dining tables aren't anywhere near big enough to seat all the people the villa can accommodate as well.

Agree for the one bedroom and two bedrooms. We had 6 people in a two bedroom at Boardwalk February 2025 and the table area was embarrassingly small plus clunky seats. Other than breakfast and snacks we fortunately had no dinners scheduled as we ate out at mostly signatures. On that note I really would love to return to M. Paul in Epcot.

You can't even grab the balcony chairs in a pinch as they are so inadequate.

I stayed at a different timeshare in Orlando once; the dining table in the 2 bedroom villa was much larger than any of the dining tables in the 2-bedroom DVC villas I've seen.

I've seen dining tables at a few other TS in the area and yes, they were all bigger. Wyndham Bonnet Creek, Hilton, Sheraton Vistana, Vistana Villages.

This is one of my pet peeves about DVC resorts: none of them have a dining table even remotely big enough for the villa. OKW is the one that comes the closest because the balcony has a usable table and chairs. As someone who often stays in non-Disney timeshares elsewhere, it is borderline resentment-inducing.

My other one? The appaling lack of ice makers.

Even the Residence Inn I stayed in for one night recently had an ice maker. It was turned off and I didn't actually need it but I couldn't resist checking to see if it was hooked up and working. Clicked the wire up or down, don't remember which and had ice in a couple of hours.

We used to have ice at Hilton Head. Not sure if that's changed as I've stayed there only in studios during recent visits. Last February my relatives were roaming the halls looking for an ice maker at BWV 2 bedroom. It was only a short distance away but they went the wrong direction, and that's a long walk at BW. Not a huge deal for me but they are 4 o'clock predinner martini people. Next evening it was back to the Belle Vue Lounge. Problem solved.

I believe Vero Beach had an ice maker when I stayed there recently.

Can’t remember if VGF has one.

Riviera 1 bedroom and larger villas have an ice maker, hopefully they add ice makers to more resorts as time goes on - particularly during hard goods refurbishments.

That’s because OKW is the most proper timeshare of the bunch! 😉
As I recall, DVC 1.0 was spearheaded by a former Marriott Vacation Club executive, who left the company fairly quickly. The original vision for DVC was a vacation club system not dissimilar to any of the leading companies at the time...

DVC found they didn't needed a national network as much as they had feared, and they found people wanted Disney vacations if they were buying DVC, not staying at Disney properties throughout the world... That meant, they didn't need some things that other timeshares have.

Even consider the amenities at OKW... where they focused. you'll see that carries through.
