Once you've banked your points can you borrow them back again easily? I mean if i only use half of my points to forward book for that year and bank the rest If I suddenly can afford a second hol last minute can I use the left over points in that same use year? or is it a case of 'once they're banked, they're banked'?

Banked points cannot be returned to their original year so

is correct.

However ... in your scenario of needing some of those points back for a last minute trip - although you wouldn't be able to retrieve your banked points, you would be able to borrow some of the following year's points! Even if all your next year's points had already been used to make a reservation for next year, you could ask MS to switch that reservation around to release those points for borrowing and to use the banked points instead.

That's probably totally confused you now, so I'll just go back to the original query - banked points stay in their banked use year!
