Hi there. I am new to the boards and can't figure out where the DVC availability check location is? We are in process of purchasing DVC thru resale and I am curious about availability. Thanks!

You can't check DVC availability until you are a member and have website access to the DVCmember site. We don't check availability on the boards because it is very fluid and could inidate the board with requests that would do no help for anyone who could not book at that moment. There are posts about historic and general availability. Drubsa has done a lot with general availability and early this week someone posted a chart showing the availability over time they had found for resorts.

In a nutshell, if you book at 11 months, you will probably get what you want. If you wait until 7 months, you might get what you want, less than 7 months, you will be staying at SSR unless you are really lucky.

My post on this issue is about a year old, see third post in http://www.disboards.com/threads/an...r-days-7-11-months-out.3281173/#post-51506136, but still valid except that as predicted VGF studios have become difficult to get at 7 months out year round and can even be a problem at 11 months out during the very high demand times in the last quarter of the year. Poly studios are still too new to establish a pattern.

Once you close on your resale transaction, get your member ID and website account, you will use the DVC Member Website (dvcmembers.com). Login and navigate to [Vacation Planning] > [Resort Availability Tool]

It doesn't show history -- but does make it easy to find real-time, current availability.

I was hoping to see historical availability data. Can I see that somewhere?

There is a reason that Disney decided on the 11 month home resort rule. Buying where you love to stay, booking at 11 months is the only way to guarantee availability.

Any why is that, Bill? What is the significance of 11-months? Thx

I don't know the reason but we assume that things just happen, they don't. Disney and DVC is a well thought out process where every little thing is done for a reason. They know us better than we know ourselves. They control and manipulate our actions to get their desired results. That is why they continue to post record breaking profits.
