DVC availability at 7 months during summer?

As much as I DO NOT WANT TO GO TO WDW DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS, my sister is pushing for it and so I need to do some legwork. We own at AKV, but we're not sure that is where we'd actually like to stay during, say, the month of July.

My question is this: Does anyone have insight into DVC availabilty at the 7 month mark for July trips? We'd likely be looking to book a 2 bd and a studio. (I know if we want a GV that I'd need to book that at AKV at the 11 month mark.) One of my biggest pet peeves about the DVC online booking tool is that if you book at your home resort at 11 months, if you want to switch at 7 months you have to cancel that 11 month reservation first in order to use the same points. (Hey, Disney. Any chance you could fix that, by the way? Thanks.) In years past, if we wanted to stay somewhere other than our home resort, I'd just wait until the 7 month mark and see what was available and go from there. I wouldn't book at 11 months at all.

But I have no idea what kind of odds we'd have during the month of July. Will there still be wiggle room at 7 months? Thoughts?

Our home is also AKV...

We have stayed ONCE at AKV since purchasing fall, 2008...
All of our trips with the exception of this last one to Aulani end of May have been in August after sports, camps, summer activities are done for summer...

We have ALWAYS been fortunate enough RIGHT at 7 months to get
2BR..All of our stays have been 2BR! In summer, we have stayed at Vero, SSR, VWL, Kidani, BCV,

BEST OF LUCK BOOKING!:dance3:

Now that our youngest son is entering college in Aug, first non summer trip for a few nights in December just the two of us! Can't wait!:cheer2:

Yesterday I found out that at 3 weeks, SSR had availability in July! I love special fireworks, DH agreed to a short trip to see the Frozen festivities at DHS!:thumbsup2.

We have gotten 2BR's at BLT-LV for early June and mid-July and BCV 2-queen for this July, all at the 7-month mark (online exactly at 8AM ET). I could have even gotten BWV boardwalk view 2BR this summer.

We own at AKV too. If think your back-up plan would be a savanna or even standard view at Kidani, then you don't really need to have that booked at 11 months for that time of year. You can just keep your points available until your 7-month window opens. If the other resort that you want is not available, you will have no trouble getting something at Kidani. Now, if you want value or concierge, then you would have to keep those on hold.

I've had fairly good success in the summer at all the resorts including BCV. We have made somewhat late plans booking only 2 to 3 months out and hadn't had any issues. In regards to the weather, it's hot, but we have been surprised on all our trips, especially in July, that it's not too too bad. The key is you need afternoon storms or at least the threat of them, it makes a big difference especially in the early evening around 6. If you have them you can enjoy yourself without being to miserable.

At 7 months out for July, a low to moderate DVC demand time, you will find everything open at the WDW resorts except potentially BWV standard and boardwalk view, BLT standard view, AKV value or club level, BWV GVs, VGF studios, and the OKW GVs in the Hospitality House booking category, and, if you are looking at time around July 4, you may also have problems with BLT theme park view, BLT GVs, and BCV studios. Also, contrary to what you may think, AKV GVs are usually open at 7 months out during the calendar year except for some very high demand times in the last quarter.
