DVC at the Poly?????

only a matter of time, we all knew all the deluxe resorts would get DVC. It will be interesting to see how they do it, though.

Oh Bummer.....the more deluxe resorts that get DVC, the fewer pools we can hop too!!!!! I really like that perk.

Honestly I will not be surprised when all deluxe resorts have DVC, that pool hopping is dropped.

Does anyone else think it's a bit odd the article suggests the entire existing resort will be scrapped?

I guess anything is possible; but that seems highly unlikely.

We would love a Poly DVC! Addonitis would set in... as long as they don't mess with O'Hana! We love eating there!

I gues the timeline would be determined by when they stop taking reservations at POLY. I would assume if they start over they would tear it all down and have a 2-3 year construction project. It will be interesting to watch.

Should be interesting.

If they started tearing down Poly when VGF is completed, they could move Poly guests to GF and VGF until much of VGF is sold. Putting people into VGF rooms would even allow them to promote DVC direct sales.

After reading about Aulani, I wouldn't mind seeing a new Poly that is similar to it's design. Could go 5 stories high and have more rooms, great water area, and views of Bay Lake and MK. Make one side cash reservations and the other side DVC.

It will be fun watching DVC pricing for the next 4-5 years.
Between the WDW flagship GF and their most popular deluxe the Polynesian, they are looking at the two most attractive areas for many WDW loyal guests.

during my trip in August I got chatty with a seemingly knowledgeable DVC CM who told me that after GFV (with a wink), they are going to build another tower at BLT where the south annex building to the CR is currently. The north building I guess is where the current BLT was built. I specifically said, "before Poly"? She said yes, according to her sources.

So if it's GFV and then BLT2 then Poly, Poly wouldn't be opening for another 8-10 years?

Anybody else heard anything about a 2nd phase to BLT? This CM seemed very aware.....of course who knows.

This makes some sense. Many thought a Poly DVC would be needed first to make a higher price point for a GF DVC. But if they build a GF DVC and a 2nd tower at the CR there would be enough room inventory to take the Poly out for a complete rebuild.

Has there been any other rumors about this Monday announcement? This is the first I heard of it .:confused3

Some people have said soil tests do not support another tower in that location. (Although I tend to believe anything is possible, with enough $, but that may be too much for a profitable DVC)

I think the bigger obstacle is that the Contemporary is a convention hotel. A convention space needs a certain number of attached rooms blocked off to be successful. I don't think the main tower, alone, has enough rooms to fill that requirement. And while I love the idea of a built-in market for cash DVC rooms for trade-outs, I don't think that works with 11 month booking windows.
