DVC at Disneyland... Photo..

Oh my that ship's maiden is some character!

It would be wonderful if DVC had a California home!

The DVC members website says there are perks to be announced in the coming months for Disneyland California.

I wonder what they are?

Here's my take-
It doesn't make a ton of sense for them to have a DVC booth in DL if they aren't going to have a DVC property there. If someone stops by, decides they're interested, then what?? Fly them over to SSR? :rotfl:
Am I looking at this the wrong way?? Anyone else have another angle or opinion?

I wonder where that is located and if they have model villas there!

Since I'll be at DL in July, I'll amble on over to the DVC Cart (thanks for posting the picture-it'll help me find it) and ask lots of questions. I'll let everyone know what they say.

We are there in August, but I sure hope another DISer is there before us Simba's mom.... I am dying to know!

There is a preview center but, no model villas there. As for the upcoming perks, **cough**loweringthepointsagainforthedisneylandhotel **uncough** and **cough** discountondisneylandannualpass **uncough**.

Geez, I need a cough drop.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, I still think something is going on, I know I'm new to DVC, so this could be way off base, but I must be missing something. I don't get the point of them having DVC info booths 3,000 (or whatever) miles away from WDW. :confused3
It has to be more than them just reducing the point value per night at the DL hotel. That could be a perk for us, but not necessarily a newbie that lives out there.
If someone at DL stops to ask for info about DVC, what are they going to promote? What's in it for that person, that maybe lives in CA and loves Disney, how are they going to pitch it to them?
Like RC says-SSR there is nothing to see, keep moving :rotfl:

Well I think Epcot, Animal Kingdom and MGM is a great start to pitching it to them... Hey.. you like what you see here at Disneyland... well how about 3 more wonderful parks PLUS deluxe accomidations. Then there are TWO water parks and endless Florida attractions.... I think DL is a great place to market DVC.

You're right, I guess I'm just trying to make sense of it in my newbie brain :rotfl: . Wishful thinking on my part, too, that they may have a DVC in DL. It just seems that if people want info right away, it;s kind of hard to get it. They can't take a tour of DVC right away if they are at DL.
Can't wait to hear about what perks we may be getting though!

Yes, those are great points, however, I think you underestimate a couple of things:

1) How many people who feel reluctance to travel all the way across the country. (Might seem silly to you, but how many east-coast DVC owners travel to DL?)

2) The draw that DL has for the people who love it. (A few people prefer DL to WDW.)

I think that having a DVC property at DL, while probably not comparing to the properties in WDW, is a great way to get new members from the midwest and the west coast. Currently, the vast majority of owners are from east-coast states (based on a poll from the DVC forum.) Now, some of this is caused by the fact that many people haven't heard of the DVC out here. But my opinion is that, for various reasons, many people in the western half of the United States are going to balk at buying in to a timeshare which can be best used only at a resort that they can't get to without a fair amount of travel. (Of course, I'm basing this on my opinion, which is that a four-hour plane flight or a three day car journey is too much. I don't have any idea how much other people are going to find reasonable.) I also think that, by opening a DVC resort at DL, DVC could rope in a large number of people who wouldn't normally buy DVC.

I know that people who think like me are in the minority. (based again on that poll from the DVC forum.) But I'm ecstatic about the drop in points required to stay at the DLH, and I'll be using it! I was thinking about an add-on earlier this year, but decided to hold out in the hopes that a DL resort would be announced. Call me crazy!

I've thought about this alot and I will say I am in the wishful thinking category. I have family in CA and would love to see a CA DVC in place sometime in the near future. I had a thought this morning...

They are specifically lowering the points for the Disneyland Hotel only. That makes sense to me because the occupancy rate at the GC is always high. It's a beautiful hotel and they have no problem keeping it filled as far as I can tell. So, does anyone besides me think it possible that they might be toying with the idea of converting at least part of the Disneyland Hotel to DVC units and that by lowering points costs there, they can determine just how interested current DVC owners might be in such a thing? I've read of many here (current DVC members) switching reservations or making reservations in CA simply because they reduced point costs on regular rooms over there...Wouldn't that interest seem to imply that the same thing or better would happen should they decide to convert some of the Disneyland Hotel to DVC?

Just my .02

I truly haven't got a clue, but the thought of DVC in CA thrills me, too. Even if they didn't convert some of the rooms at DLH to true DVC-style rooms, I would be thrilled to stay there if I could just save some points! It would be great if the points were more comparable to what we could get at our home resorts. I know this is probably wildly unrealistic, but I can dream...

I think some have mentioned the issue is California's laws, which don't allow a timeshare with an ending date like DVC. But those laws could always change.

There could be a new DVC without an ending date too.

Back last December, I was told by a CM/guide to expect some big news about DVC coming soon. He also said to think BIG like west or Hawaii. When we firt heard about the special tours to the national parks, etc, I thought that might be it, but now I am beginning to wonder!

we will be at DL on July 2nd.. we will check this out ...

Here's some wishful thinking for you:

A nice new DVC at DL AND a combo annual pass that includes WDW & DL! That's what I need to get me away from the Florida parks. I love the California park but I just don't ever make it out there because I already have an AP for WDW.

Hey one can dream can't they!

Lori
