Yes, you can pay for it the same as any other ticket. Technically, it's a DVC AP, not a DVC discount AP. Just like Florida Resident AP, it's a type of ticket.

I do think there is a limit of transaction payments though. In January when I renewed I had a 1 day pass to apply and 2 gift cards and was going to pay the rest with my cc. The CM said they had a limit of 3 types of payment at one time. So I used the 1 day pass, the larger gift card and my cc for the remainder. If you have more than 3 forms of payment, you can break your purchase into 2 different ones since you plan to buy 2 APs.

so if i had multiple $100 gift cards would i be allowed to only use 2 of them and then pay the balance on each card? or since "gift cards" are only one type of payment, would i be allowed to use as many gift cards as i had to pay the entire cost?

I recently used multiple gift cards to pay for dining plans. Although the cast member did not believe it was going to go through, it did. I assume it was permitted as the gift cards only represented one form of payment.

I buy Disney gift cards throughout the year so I do not have to take money out of savings to pay for the trip expenses. Last year I had 2k in disney gift cards in all different amounts. I used several to pay for the park passes, dining plan, etc. Never had any problems using multiple cards to pay for a single purchase anywhere for anything.

The CM at IG told me that you can use THREE (3) forms of payment per transaction. Since my 2 gift cards and 1 day pass did not cover the balance of my renewal, I had to make sure my cc was one of the 3 forms of payment. HE did try the second gift card (3rd form of payment) prior to charging the balance on my cc and said he could not use 4 forms of payment towards one transaction. I had no reason not to believe him. When I used gift cards when making a payment to my cruise balance it would also only let me use 3 forms of payment then I would have to complete the transaction and start a new one.

I had:

1 day pass = 92
1 gift card = 150
1 gift card = 25 (I could not use this one)
visa for balance = $100 est

You could certainly buy each AP separately if you have multiple gift cards, just ask the CM first about using multiple gift cards to see if there is a max allowance during one transaction.
