DVC AP validation for college kid on spring break?

I found an older thread from 2018 that said their college child was able to validate a new DVC AP with a copy of the parents driver’s license and DVC member card, My college child is headed to Disney on spring break with friends and it honestly makes more sense to get her an AP, because she’ll probably go back with me later in 2022. Would she be able to validate the pass if I’m not there? Her drivers license has our home address on it and she is still very much a dependent.

With the imminent advent of electronic DVC cards in January, this brings up a couple of interesting questions. How does your child now have a copy of your card? And are the children of DVC members going to get electronic DVC cards for their discount entitlements?

In answer to your question, since the addresses match on the DL, I can't imagine she will have any issues, but it does bring up some interesting questions.

Have her try to just enter the park by tapping her magic band if her pass is assigned to her in MDE. Give her all the DVC info just in case but this would be easier to try first. Our annual passes activated on their own just by entering when we didn’t want them to and had to spend an hour at guest services to get them deactivated and to use single day tickets we had lingering on our account instead that we planned to use. I thought we were safe because our passes were supposed to be activated before being used.

Call MS. The CM can put a note in your file.

Give your daughter a copy of your photo ID & a screen shot of your DVC member card. Make sure the screen shot is done such that any expiration date is after her trip. She will need to go to GR to activate the AP & to get the AP card (which can be used for AP discounts or as a ticket to enter a park).

I might have been the poster you read about in 2018. My son took a copy of my ID and the dvc member card with him to activate his annual pass. The CM also wanted me on the phone to verify, but he did get the annual pass activated.

Just give her the needed documents and be available if the CM needs to talk with you. Hope it is an easy process for her!

I wonder if the electronic cards will change anything as well. I've always been with my kids at Disney, so the discounts they have received were usually when we purchased something together. I'm not sure they've ever used the discount when I wasn't present.

Thank you for the advice, I'll do that. I'll make sure she has copies of all the documents and hope for the best.

It probably was your post. I just hope they don't make any changes to their policies between now and March. I should have no problems being available if they need me on the phone. I guess I could just tell her I need to chaperone her trip to get her in the parks.

Chances are slim to none. They currently don't receive physical cards unless they are over 18 and on the deed.
