Here's a situation that I am wondering if any DVCer has encountered and am curious what the outcome was.

If you already have an unused 10 day parkhopping nonexpiring MYW ticket with a current gate price of $479.26, but decide to buy the discounted DVC AP instead at $370.62, can you apply the 10day ticket to the price of the DVC AP and do you get the $108.64 difference back?

Has anyone tried this (or a similar scenario) and did you get a refund or were you told no?

The Everything About WDW Tickets sticky thread doesn't seem to address this issue well.

Thanx! :thumbsup2

As long as the ticket has not been used, you will receive a refund for the difference when trading in for the DVC AP.

We have the 10 day passes and I learned last week on the DIS (thanks again Pbader!) that we can use our WDW tickets at DLR. You cannot use WDW AP's. So another plus for the 10 day if you plan on visiting Disneyland. We are using points for GCH in Aug and were looking at $500 for 2 day tickets to DL and now we can use that money somewhere else and still have days left over on our 10 day passes.

Just something else to consider:wizard:

This could be done at a Guest Relations Office (but not a ticket window or Resort Lobby Concierge). It may take a Manager's approval and would require an entry in the Guest Recovery System.

I talked to WDW Ticketing and had a great CM on the phone!

She said an UNused MYW ticket can be downgraded for a refund of the difference.

A used MYW ticket (even used for just 1 day within the 14 day window) can only be upgraded.

down grade = going to a lower price ticket/AP

up grade = going to a higher price ticket/AP

I hope this helps someone else, too!

Remember it's based on the original purchase price of the ticket your trading, not the current price of the same type ticket. Unless the ticket is pretty new, it usually better just to invest in the new ticket and keep the old one saving it for a time when it makes more sense such as shorter stays or years when you may not go as many days total.
